City of Stephenville - City Council
Tuesday, August 20, 2013, 5:30 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, convened on August 20, 2013, at 5:30 p.m., in the
Council Chambers at City Hall, 298 West Washington Street, for the purpose of a Regular Business Meeting,
with the meeting being open to the public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, time, place and subject
thereof, having been posted as prescribed by Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon's Texas Codes
Annotated, with the following members present, to wit:
Mayor Pro-Tem Malcolm L. Cross
Council members Casey Hogan
Doug Svien
Russ McDanel
Brady Pendleton
Martha Taylor
Alan Nix
Scott Evans
Absent Jerry K. Weldon II
Others Attending Mark A. Kaiser, City Administrator
Randy Thomas, City Attorney
Cindy L. Stafford, City Secretary
Call to Order. The meeting of the Stephenville City Council was called to order at 5:30 p.m.
on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, by Mayor Pro-Tem Malcolm L. Cross.
Public Hearing on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2013-14
Mayor Pro-Tem Cross opened a public hearing for comments on the budget. The following
people spoke:
Zena Mobley, 684 North Graham, Stephenville, urged the council to not raise the tax rate.
She said that as a single mother, it takes everything she makes to support herself and her
children.
Fredie Goble, 413 Bluebonnet, Stephenville, also spoke in opposition to the tax rate.
III. Consider the Time, Date and Place of a Public Hearing on the Tax Rate for 2012
MOTION BY Scott Evans, second by Alan Nix, to hold the first public hearing on tax increase
on September 3, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers, Stephenville City Hall, 298 West
Washington Street, Stephenville, Texas and the second public hearing on tax increase to be
held on September 10, 2013 at 5:30 p.m. at City Council Chambers, Stephenville City Hall, 298
West Washington Street, Stephenville, Texas. MOTION CARRIED by unanimous roll call vote.
IV. Adjourn

MOTION by Alan Nix, second by Martha Taylor, to adjourn the meeting. MOTION CARRIED at
5:39 p.m.
