The City Council met in called meeting on the above date with Mayor Cook presiding and the following councilmen present: Hubert Darby, Mrs. Fred Mc- Cleskey, E. Lee Orbison, Chas. Riggins, Roy Swaim, W. H. Stem and Mrs. Doyle White. Mayor Cook stated the purpose of this meeting was to hear a report of the committee on hiring a Park & Recreation Director. Councilman Stem, reporting for this committee, stated the committee had considered applications and recommended Mr. Troy Gilbert be hired on a tempor- ary basis at a salary of $300.00 per month. Mr. Gilbert appears to be interested inithe recreation program and the committee feels he is qualified for the job. It was moved by Councilman Stem, seconded by Councilman Swaim, that Mr. Troy Gilbert be employed on a temporary basis at a starting salary of $300.00 per month. Motion carried. It was agreed that the Park & Recreation Board be invited to attend the next regular council meeting and the Board be asked to cooperate with Mr. Gilbert. Councilman Darby reported there has been a lot of garbage dumped in the old rock quarry and something needs to be done about this since it is very un- sanitary. The Council asked R. Y. Gann to fence the area and place no dumping signs on the fence. Mayor Cook stated the Park Committee will only have two members, these to be Bill Christian, Chairman, and Hubert Darby.
