HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-05-19 - Special City CouncilStephenville, Texas: May 19, 1964- The City Council met in regular meeting on the above date with Mayor Cook presiding and the following councilmen present: Hubert Darby, Mrs. Fred McCleskey, E. Lee Orbison, Chas. Riggins, Roy Swaim, Bill Christian and Mrs. Doyle White. Councilman Orbison discussed the proposed subdivision of Lot 20 Block 34, South Side. A part of these lots on the east side can be served by a 2 in. water 1/ line connected to the 6 in. main which was paid for by Barham & Lockhart. It was the understanding of Mr. John Skipper, agent for the developer, that a pro rata share of the 1/3 cost of this 6 in, could be paid and the small line be tied in to furnish water to this subdivision. It was pointed out that the City has signed an- agreement with Barham & Lockhart to collect the full 113 cost of the 6 in. water line any time a line is tied on the main on the west side. It was moved by Councilman Orbison, seconded by Councilman Swaim, to accept the plat for subdivision of Lot 2, Block 34, South Side, as drawn, and if a letter is received from Barham & Lockhart agreeing to accept a part payment of the 1/3 cost of the 6 in. water line. Motion carried. The Mayor urged the Council to take the necessary steps to secure right -of- way for,the proposed pipeline so there will be no delay in this phase of getting additional water for the City. Councilman Darby reported there will be some problems with the sewer in the Proposed addition west of Harbin Drive. It was suggested that the developers fur- nish the City with an elevation map, also that wider utility easements be given to accommodate garbage trucks and other utility company equipment. Councilwoman McCleskey reported the Airport has been mowed and additional tydowns have been installed. It was moved by Councilmano Kristian, seconded by Councilwoman McCleskey, to pay Bob Smith two weeks additional salary. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Christian, seconded by Councilman Swaim, to authorize the Park Committee to hire a temporary Park Director until such time as a permanent director can be hired. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Christian, seconded by Councilman Orbison, that the following changes be made in the Parks & Recreation Board: Raymond Anderson Chairman, Tony Campbell and Morris Gifford. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Councilman Riggins, seconded by Councilman Darby, to hire M. Shannon as City Judge. Mr. Shannon to begin immediately. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Swaim,'seconded by Councilman Orbison, that Mr. F. D. Hicks be appointed City Registrar. Motion carried. Councilman Swaim reported that Jack Farrar has asked that a bridge be placed across the branch in the Denman Addition. The Street Department will check on this. Councilman Swaim also reported the Right -of -way Committee has conta:ct6dsthe property owners and this should be complete by the next regular meeting. Councilwoman White had nothing to report. IG2 It was moved by Councilman Orbison, seconded by Councilman Riggins, that the City Hall be closed Friday, May 29, 1964. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Councilman €3rbisgn, seconded by Councilman Darby, to go ahead and fence the well site on Mr. Albritton's property and work out the details for a gate so that Mr. Albritton can cross the land as agreed. Motion carried. Upon motion and second, the Council stood adjourned subject to the Mayorls call. Mayor.
