HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-03-13 - Special City CouncilStephenville, Texas March 13, 1964- The City Council met in called meeting on this date with Mayor Evans pre- siding and the following councilmen present: I. D. Reynolds, Hubert Darby, Mark Geeslin, E. Lee Orbison, Raymond Anderson, Roy Swaim, Harlon Huey and W. H. Stem. Mr. Bras Cole appeared before the Council stating the Methodist Church would like to have the parking lot, near Anderson Motor Company, paved with pre -mix. This.type paving will cost approximately $300.00 morb.. The Church and County are agreeable to paying $100.00 each. Mr. Cole asked the City to pay the additional 0100.00. It was moved by Councilman Swaim, seconded by Councilman Reynolds, to pay the additional $100.00 on this project. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Huey, to lease hangar space at the City Airport to Hugh Wolfe for $1.00 per month. Motion carried. Messrs. Almon and Rhodes of Almon, McKinney & Dudley Inc., appeared before the Council and explained in detail the payments which would be required in connection with the proposed issuance of $140,000.00 Warrants for pipeline and developing a well field. Mr. Almon explained that one of the requirements of this type financ- ing is that all work be done by contract. Due to the fact that estimated cost was based upon the City doing the pipeline work, it was suggested that the City hire an engineer to prepare an estimate of total cost of construction, then the total amount of warrants can be determined. It was moved by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Stem, to employ A 1mon, McKinney & Dudley Inc., to handle the financing of proposed water works improvements. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Swaim, seconded by Councilman Anderson, to employ Homer A. Hunter Associates to handle engineering of proposed water works improvements. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Reynolds, seconded by Councilman Darby, to authorize City Attorney Chandler to proceed with condemnation on the Albritton property for well site and pipeline right -of -way.
