The Citv Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Evans pre -
si.di.ng and the following Councilmen present:-
I. D. Reynolds, Hubert Darby, Mark Geeslin, E. Lee Orbison, Roy Strain, Harlan
Huey, and W. H. Stem,
Mayor Evans reported that Councilman Stem had requested. that City employees
be paid early this month. The City employees will receive a full check before
Christmas.
Councilman Stem reported that the finance committee and City Secretary have
met and recommend that City employees be given a bonus this year.
It was moved by Councilman Stem, second.ed. by Councilman Orbison that all full
time City employees be given a $15.00 bonus and. part -time employees be given a
$7.50 bonus. Motion carried.
Mayor Evans reported that the Historical markers near Piggly ?Aiigaiv Store have
been moved at a cost of approximately &10.00.
Mayor Evans reported that a Mr. Hatcher Financier of Dallas has met with him
and discussed the possibility of the Citv purchasing the gas system owned. by Arkansas -
Louisiana Gas Company. Mr. Hatcher stated that there is adequate ryas available to
serve the City, as definite commitments have been made by producers in the Steph.envill.c
area.

City Secretary read a letter the president of Arkansas- Louisiana Gas Company.
This letter pointed out the fact that gas service is not satisfactory, and asked that
the gas company sell facilities to the City.
It was moved. by Councilman Geeslin, seconded by Councilman Huey to send this
letter to the president of Arkansas- Louisiana Gas Company and that Councilman Anderson,
Swain, Huey, and Orbison work as a committee on the possibility of purchasing facili-
ties of the gas company In this area and. report back to the Council' carried.
There being no other business at this time, the Council stood ad.j
to the Mayor's call.
