July 9, 1963.
The City Council met in a called session on this date with Mayor Pro -Tem
Anderson presiding and the following Councilmen present: I. D. Reynolds, Hubert
Darby, Mark Geeslin, Harlan Huey and W. H. Stem.
Mrs. Madeline Taylor appeared before the Council asking for a permit to
operate a Recreation Club in the City. Mrs. Taylor stated that the State has
changed the law for operating billiard tables and pool halls, this to become ef-
fective on August 23, 1963. She assured the Council the club will be run on a
membership basis and both men and women can join. The club will be conducted in
an orderly manner at all times.
It was moved by Councilman Huey, seconded by Councilman Reynolds, to have
the City Attorney draw up an ordinance licensing and regulating recreation clubs
and pool halls in the City. Motion carried.
After discussion, it was moved by Mayor Evans, seconded by Councilman Stem,
to grant Madeline Taylor a permit to pperate a recreation club in the City.
Motion carried.
