called meeting on this date with Mayor Evans presiding
present: I. D. Reynolds, Mark Geeslin, Albert Graves,
and Harlan Huey.

C. M. Flory and others, representing the City Recreation Board, appeared before
the Council and reported this board had screened several applicants, that they would
like to recommend Mr. Bob Smith of Bellaire, Texas, for the job. Mr. Flory explained
in detail the qualifications of Mr. Smith and stated he has been highly recommended
for the job of recreation director.
Mayor Evans suggested the recreation director work with the City Recreation
Board in development of a program, then when some official action by the Council is
needed the Board can bring the matter before the Council. This would take a great
load off the Council.
It was moved by Councilman Anderson, seconded by Councilman Graves, to hire Mr.
Bob Smith as recreation director, to start work on February 1, 1963, at a salary of
$5600.00 per year. Motion carried.
Councilman Anderson reported the Kiwanis Club want to use the Recreation Hall
for a program. After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Stem, seconded by Coun-
cilman Geeslin, to rent the Recreation Hall to the Kiwanis Club for the program for
$25.00, provided they clean the building, or $35.00 if the City cleans the building
after the program. (This rate to apply to this program only). Motion carried.
There being no other business at this time,
