The City Council met in called meeting on this date with Mayor Evans presiding and the following Councilmen present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Mark Geeslin, Albert Graves, Raymond Anderson, W. H. Stem and Harlan Huey. Mayor Evans reported the purpose of this meeting was to discuss with Gas Co. Officials the shortage of gas in extremely cold weather. Mr. R. H. Curry, of Arkansas - Louisiana Gas Co, appeared before the Council and stated a mechanical failure at one of the company booster stations caused the gas pressure to go down, resulting in very little gas in some sections of the City. Mr. Curry stated that in recent years the company has spent more than three hundred thousand dollars to improve the gas service to the Stephenville area. Mr. & Mrs. L. J. Smith and Mr. W. H. Young appeared before the Council stating that since 1948 the people on the Morgan Mill Road have been low on gas each time the weather gets real cold. It was pointed out that the gas also gets very low on East Road and the Clifton Heights areas. This group stated they do not like to com- plain but insist that something be done so they will have plenty of gas when needed. Mr. Curry made the statement that the trouble on the Morgan Mill Road will be taken care of. Mayor Evans stated that the recent gas situation has been the most difficult experienced in several years. There have been large numbers of people calling the Council members and the Mayor asking what the Council intended doing about this sit- uation. Members of the Council were invited to tour the facilities of the`Gas Company and be shown the equip- ment which has been installed to provide more'gas' for the City. - There being no other business, the Council stood aurnd subjet to the Mayors call. JANDRARY #4, 1963 The City Council City of Stephenville, Texas Gentlemen: hugh wolfe ten ten frey stephenville, texas The undersigned would like to join the City in a joint beautification program of the Golf Course and East -end Cemetary. As Lots are sold and occupied closer to the Golf Course we will have an increasing proplem with Golf players encroaching upon Cemetary property... better described as Private Property. The two properties should be seperated by a screen of trees and shrubs. I would like to see the West and South sides of the Cemetary lined with tall Slash -pine trees. This would stop nine out of ten golf -balls from landing in the Cemetary and give both properties a beautiful frame. I will furnish enough Slash Pine to plant both the West and Fouth boundries of the Cemetary if the City will water and cultivate them. I will furnish the fertilizer aeeded and direct a care program. I think both lines can be watered by gravity flow.... the South line from high -way 281 side and the West line from the North. We have water lines at both locations.
