HomeMy WebLinkAbout1962-08-30 - Special City CouncilStephenville, Texas August 30, 1962. s The City Council met in called meeting on the above date with Mayor Evans presid- ing and the following councilmen present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Wm. 0. Croft, Mark Geeslin, Raymond Anderson, Albert Graves, W. H. Stem apd Harlan Huey. It was moved by Councilman Dickerson, seconded by Councilman Reynolds, to enter into contractual agreement with the State Highway Department for securing right of way for extension of Loop 195 from Highway 281 East to Highway 377. Motion carried. (Said contractual agreement being attached to and becoming a part of these minutes). The following members of the Planning and Zoning Commission appeared before the Council: J. D. McCullough, E. A. Blanchard, Cliff Shroyer, C. H. Maguire and R. F. Higgs Jr. It was explained that the proposed zoning ordinance has been prepared with the help of other towns and many other persons. This ordinance has not been prepared to hurt the property of anyone, but to help protect 6he property owners by controlling the type of buildings which are placed throughout the City. 112 J. D. McCullough explained in detail.the definitions of words which are used throughout the entire proposed ordinance. E. A-. Blanchard presented maps which show the sections of the City that are zoned as R -1; R -2; B -1; and B -2, Mr. Blanchard also explained in detail the re- quirements for building in each of the above,. sections of the City, Cliff Shroyer explained in detail the uses and restrictions of buildings that are erected in the B -3 sections of the City, and also the industrial sections of the City. R. F. Higgs Jr, explained in detail the non - conforming use of land and buildings., C. H. Maguire explained in detail the additional use, height, and a rea regula- tions and exceptions, parking space for vehicles, permits, certificates of occupancy, board of adjustments, and enforcement and penalty of violation sections of this or- dinance. The Mayor expressed appreciation to the Zoning Commission for their good work In preparing the ordinance. The Council agreed to set a date for a public hearing on the proposed zoning- ordinance.
