Stem Stephenville, Texas August 16, 1962. called meeting on this date with Mayor Evans presiding, present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Wm. O. Croft, and Harlan Huey. Mr. Rufus F. Higgs Sr. came before the Council in connection with bid made for 19.5 acres of land of the Matthew Roberts Survey by Edd Brooks, Trustee. Mr. Higgs explained to the Council that it was necessary for Mr. Edd Brooks, as Trustee, to take title rather than title being conveyed to Stephenville Industrial Foundation because the funds being suscribed by the foundation were not yet available for the payment of the purchase price. Mr. Higgs further stated that the title would either to into the Stephenville Industrial Foundation or into some company or person setting` up a new industry in Stephenville in the near future. He assured the Council that if this did not happen within reasonable length of time the land would be tendered back to the City of Stephenville and deed would be made reconveying it upon the payment of the x$2000.00 purchase price by the City. It was discussed by the Council at this point and the consensus of the Council members was that should the land not be used within reasonable length of time for industrial purposes consideration could then be given to taking the land back and r$ funding the purchase price. 4 There was one bid received for the purchase of 19.5 acres of the Airport land.
