The City Council met in called .session on this date with Mayor Evans presiding and the following councilmen present: I. D. Reynolds, Mark Geeslin, Albert Graves, W. H. Stem and Harlan Huey. Mayor Evans reported the purpose of the meeting is to hear a report from the Soil Conservation Planning Party of the progress made on the upper Bosque watershed. Mr. L. J. Land, spokesman for the Planning Party, stated the Soil Conservation plans to construct a flood control dam on Alarm Creek which would have approximately 11,000 acres of watershed. The permanent pool would contain about 146 acres of sur- face. The dam could be raised and increase the surface to 374 acres. This would back water up to the bridge across Alarm Creek between Stephenville and Alexander. This lake would be approximately 7 miles from Stephenville. Mr. Freese, of Freese & Nichols Engineers, reported that in his opinion a lake this size would be of little benefit to the City for a municipal water supply. Mr. Freese stated this would be a nice project for recreation, game fish and wildlife if the City is interested in using the lake for such purposes. After detailed discussion, the Mayor expressed appreciation to all for these re- ports. It was moved by Councilman Graves, seconded by Councilman Reynolds, to buy a cashier's check in the amount of $633.33 in favor of L. F. Packwood for air easement at the City Airport. Motion carried. There being no other business at this time, the to the Mayor's call. A ST: ty Secretary. Counc to adjo ed subject Mayor.
