The City Council met in called session on this date with Mayor Evans presiding and the following Councilmen present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, -tidm. 0. Croft, Burl Lawrence, A lbert Graves, Raymond Anderson and W. H. Stem. Mayor Evans reported the purpose of this meeting is to consider salary recommen- dations as prepared by the Finance Committee. Councilman Anderson, Chairman of Finance Committee, discussed in detail the recommendadlonalary increases for City employees. X It was moved by Councilman Lawrence, seconded by Councilman Dickerson, to appoint Rex H. Cates as Director of Finance. Motion carried. It was moved by Councilman Dickerson, seconded by Councilman Stem, to grant regular city employees a 5% increase in salary, department heads, and some key per - sonell, a larger raise, as recommended by the Finance Committee. Motion carried. Councilman Croft reported that the firemen' -are to attend school soon and asked 941k AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE CHARGES TO BE MADE BY SOUTHWEST NATURAL GAS COMPANY AND ALL FIRMS, PERSONS AND CORPORATIONS FURNISHING, DISTRIBUTING OR SELLING NATURAL GAS TO DOMESTIC OR COMMERCIAL CONSUMERS WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR PENALTIES FOR NON- PAYMENT OF BILLS, REPEAL - ING ALL ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS: Section 1 The Southwest Natural Gas Company and all firms, persons, and corporations furnishing, distributing, or selling natural gas to domestic or commercial con- sumers within the Corporate Limits of the City of Stephenville, Texas, except for Gas Air Conditioning Units, shall charge for natural gas consumed not in excess of the following charges and rates: First 300 cu. ft. $1.00 Next 29700 cu. ft. 8.80 per 100 cubic feet Next 7,000 cu. ft. 7.30 per 100 cubic feet Next 20,000 Cu. ft. 6.30 per 100 cubic feet Next 45y000 cu. ft. 5.30 per 100 cubic feet All additional 4.8¢ per 100 cubic feet A minimum monthly charge of $1.00 shall be made to all consumers; a penalty of 10 per cent of the bill shall be added for failure to pay any bill on or before the "gross amount" date shown on the bill. Special Gas Air Conditioning Rate (For all gas used from April 150 meter readings to October 15th meter read- ings of each year by all consumers with gas -fired air conditioning units.) First 300'cubic feet $1.00 Next 2,700 cubic feet 8.80 per 100 cubic feet All over 39000 cubic feet 4.00 per 100 cubic feet A minimum monthly charge of $2.50 shall be made to all consumers; a penalty of 10 per cent of the bill shall be added for failure to pay any bill on or before the "gross amount" date shown on the bill. Section 2 1961. The above rates are to be effective on bills rendered on and after August 299 Section 3 All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith shall be and same are hereby repealed. This ordinance was duly read and considered at the meeting of the City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, held on the 6th day of June, 1961, and duly read and considered at the meeting of the City Council of Stephenville, Texas, held on the 4th day of July, 1961, and duly read, considered, passed and approved at meeting held on the 4th day of July, 19619 by the following vote: Ayes: Virgil Dickerson Burl Lawrence Albert Graves W. After discussion, it was moved by Council - + man Graves, seconded by Councilman Dickerson, that in the _future all city employees will turn in cash receipts for expenses while out of town on City business.
