The City Council met in called session on this date with Mayor Evans presiding and the follow ing councilmen present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds,.Wm. 0. Croft, Burl Lawrence, Albert Graves, Raymond Anderson, Scott D. Reed and W. H. Stem. Mayor Evans reported Mr. Gann had started to fence the City property in Block 51, College View Addition, and found the city well to be in the street. It was moved by gouncilman Reed, seconded by Councilman Dickerson, that the following res- olution be adopted: RESOLUTION RESOLVED, that whereas that portion of Smallwood Avenue running from the north line of West Shirley Street to the south line of West McKeown Street in the City of Stephenville has been abandoned for street purposes and same does not appear to be a street and is in no way being used for street purposes and such portion of North Smallwood Avenue is hereby ordered vacated and closed as a city street. Motion for the above carried. EQUALIZATION BOARD On this, the 16th day of May, 1961, the City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in a called meeting with the following members present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Wm. 0. Croft, Burl Lawrence, Albert Graves, Raymond Anderson, Scott D. Reed and W. H. Stem, and the above named constituted a majority and a quorum of the present City Council, and the meeting was called to order by the Mayor and there- upon the following proceedings were had: It was agreed by vote of the Council that members of the City Council be ap- pointed as members of the Equalization Board of the City of Stephenville for the year 1961; and the question being called for a vote was taken and the City Council members were elected by a unanimous vote as members of said Board of Equalization and thereupon it was moved by Councilman Lawrence that the following ordinance be enacted by the City Council of the City of Stephenville, to -wit: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS' Sec. 1. That the Board of Equalization, heretofore on this day appointed by the City Council of the City of Stephenville, proceed to perform their duties ac- cording to law, and the dates of the first meetings of said Board of Equalization is hereby fixed on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th days of May, 1961, at which time said Board of Equalization shall hold forth in its first meeting in the City Hall in the City of Stephenville, Texas. Sec. 2. That this Board may have such other meetings as are provided by law and as may be required by lawfully performance of their duties as such board. Sec. 3. That this ordinance be in effect from and after its passage. The motion to pass said ordinance was seconded by discussion, the question was called for and a vote ordinance was passed by majority vote of said City animous. ATTEST: ffYty Secretary. It was moved by Councilman Reed, seconded by Councilman Dickerson, that the rate of pay for each member of Equalization Board be $3.00 per hour. Motion carried. A The Council discussed the sale of the Old Dump Ground on the Lingleville Road but no action was taken at this time. Mayor Evans reported that HB -73, which is the Firemens Retirement Bill, has passed the House with some amendments. It was pointed out if this bill is made law it will cost the City a great amount of money. The Council has previously gone on record as opposing the original bill, and still opposes the bill as amended. Councilman Lawrence reported, due to several requests, the Park Committee would like to sekLseason tickets for the swimming pool this year and asked the Council for suggestions of the charge for such tickets. After discussion, the Council agreed for the Park Committee to handle this. There being no other business at this time, the Counci s od adj rned subject to the Mayor's call. Mayor.
