The City Council met in regular meeting on the above date with Mayor Evans; pre- siding and the following aldermen presenti Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Chas. Riggins, Albert Graves, Raymond Anderson and J. P. Hedrick. Others present were Water Supt. Gann, St. Supt. Collins, Chief Cornell and City Atty. Chandler. Minutes of previous meetings were read and approved. Alderman Graves reported the net wire had been put up at the Dump Ground and he believes this will help control burning paper which will keep fire from spreading to adjoining property. Alderman Graves also reported work is still being done on the sewer line project to Dale Avenue and the need for securing easements for this line. Mayor Evans appointed Aldermen Graves, Dickerson, Hedrick and Riggins as a committee to contact the Moorhead and Shuler heirs and try to work out some satis- factory agreement for extending the sewer line across their property. Alderman Dickerson reported there is no fire insurance on the Street Depart- ment equipment which is now being stored at the old airport hangar building. Alder- man Dickerson feels there should be some fire insurance on this expensive equipment. After discussion, it was agreed for the Street Committee to hand this matter. Alderman Reynolds reported the radio equipment has been installed at the Air- port and is working real good, however, the beacon light has not yet been installed. Alderman Riggins reported we now have an insurance policy which covers volunteer firemen while fighting fires and the policy will cost $222.00 per year. The Insurance Company has offered to write a three year policy for $555.00, a saving of $111.00. After discussion, it was agreed to take this policy on a one year basis at this time. Discussed at this time was the "No Parking" signs which were taken down recently` on West Washington Street across from the Dairy King. It was moved by Alderman Dickerson, seconded by Alderman Graves, to place these signs back across the street from the Diary King. Motion carried. Mayor Evans stated the Plumbing Code is very good and he would like to appoint a committee to draw up a proposed Electrical Code, members to report back to the Council. Mayor Evans appointed E. W. Ferguson and E. L. Stephens, firemen,- as a Committee to work on this Electrical Code. The previously appointed committee does not yet have an recommendations for the Nightwatchman's vacation. It was moved by Alderman Riggins, seconded by Alderman Dickerson, to transfer $2000.00 from the General Fund to the R & B Fund. Motion carried. It was moved by Alderman Dickerson, seconded by Alderman Graves, that bills and accounts be allowed and ordered paid. Motion carried.
