HomeMy WebLinkAbout1964-11-03 - Regular City CouncilStephenville, Texas November 3, 1964 - The City Council met in regular meeting on the above date with Mayor Cook presiding and the following councilmen present: Hubert Darby, Mrs. Fred Mc- Cleskey, E. Lee Orbison, Chas. Higgins, Roy Swain, Bill Christian and Mrs. Doyle White. Present at the meeting were Dir. of Public Works Gann and Chief Cornell. Minutes of previous meetings were read and approved. It was reported the first test hole had been finished and the Micro Log,-- 'IV and Electric Log completed. The second test hole has been drilled to the.Paluxy sands and preparations are being made to test pump this well. It was reported that Arch Evans asked the City to place his duplex on one water meter. It was pointed out that this duplex has been on two meters for years, that the City Ordinance states each such place shall be on separate water and sewer connections. Councilwoman McCleskey had nothing to report. Councilmen Darby and Higgins nothing to report. Councilman Orbison reported he has met with Supt. of Schools Helms and found the school is interested in trading the .Cordelia Graves School property for a part of Lot 6, Block 12, Shappard & Collins Addition. Mayor Cook asked the Committee to check into this and report back to the Council. Councilman Swain reported three of the Elders of the East Side Church of Christ have signed the deed to the parcel of land for right -of -way, the others to come by s.o6n and sign. It was reported that all property owners except two have agreed to give land for the extension of West Tarleton Street to Dale Avenue. Mr. Moorhead has asked for $1000.00 to cross his property, the Shuler Heirs have given no answer to date. Councilwoman White and Councilman Christian had nothing to report. The Mayor appointed Councilman Orbison, as Chairman, with Councilmen Stem and Riggins as members of a committee to study and make recommendations for a policy on future paving of public parking lots. It was moved by Councilman Orbison, seconded by Councilman Swain, to author- ize the City Secretary to bid on Lot 6, Block 2, Park Place Addition, when same is placed up for sale. The bid not to exceed $1650.00. Motion carried. Upon motion and second, the Council stood adjourned subject to the Mayor's call. A L� _U,Yty 6ecretary. 04� i K
