The City Council met in called meeting on this date with Mayor Cook presiding and the following councilmen present: Hubert Darby, Mrs. Fred McCleskey, E. Lee Orbison, Chas. Riggins, Roy Swain, Bill Christian, W. H. Stem and Mrs. Doyle White. Mayor Cook reported that as of June 1, 1965, he would no longer be associated with Cook Bros. Limber Co., and will be moving from Stephenville. Irieview of these facts the Mayor is tendering his resignation effective in A pril. It was moved by Councilman Swain, seconded by Councilman Christian, to accept the resignation of Mayor Cook with regret. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Councilman Stem, seconded by Councilwoman White, to adopt the following resolutions RESOLUTION Resolved, that the resignation of Mayor W. E. Cook be accepted with regret, this resignation to become effective after the next general City Election and after sel- ection and qualification of his successor; and Be it further resolved, that an election be held at the next General City Elec- tion to fill the unexpired term of Mayor W. E. Cook, this unexpired term being a period of one year from and after such election, and the City Secretary is directed to take applications for this unexpired term of the Mayor's Office and to make this election for such unexpired term of the Mayorfs Office a part of the ballot to be acted upon by the voters at the next General City Election. Motion carried unani- mously. It was moved by Councilman Stem, seconded by Councilman Christian, to lease the City owned property,at the entrance to Greenview Addition,to Harlan Huey for $100.00 per year for ten years with option to lease for an additional ten years. Motion carried. Chief Cornell gave a report on the robbery at the laundry on South Graham St. It'was pointed out that there is a possibility this would not have happened had there been two policemen "on duty at the time. The Council discussed hiring another policeman and asked that the Law & Order Committee meet with the Director of Finance to determine if funds can be raiadd for this extra policeman. Also to report at the next meeting of the Council call. Upon motion and second, the Council stood adjourned subject to the Mayor's _2w � ATT T; Mayor. y _ Secretary. z
