V. M. Irwin and Mrs. Fred McCleskey. 7—q /s f v <� c p W y e% The Council again discussed the request for placing of signs directing college students to Crockett Hall. It was the opinion of some that, due to the fact of Crockett Hall being for the use of college students only, the signs would be a ser- vice to the college and not necessairly to an individual. It was decided that a minimum of 3 signs could be used." County Judge Harbin and Commissioners Fallin, Pack and Mauldin appeared before the Council to discuss the problem of ambulance service which will be discontinued September 30, 19660 by the funeral homes. I. W The Mayor reported that the Regional Director of wage and hour law has been contacted by telephone -this date and the director stated that the only time ambul- ance service comes under wage and hour law is on emergency calls on the highway and in making out of State trips. It was pointed out that, based on past records, there would only be approximately one emergency call on the highways per month. The Mayor asked'Dr. J. C. Terrell how much Medicare would pay for ambulance serv- ice. Dr. Terrell stated that he did not know but felt it would be in excess of $5.00 per call. Mr. Ewell Jones appeared before the Council and Commissioners and was asked if he could continue to operate ambulance service if the only time he would be under wage and hour law was on highway emergency calls or out of State calls. Mr. Jones stated at this time he would continue to operate ambulance service if wage and hour persons would not interfere. The Mayor again called Mr. W. J. Rogers, Regional Director of wage and hour law, and asked Mr. Rogers if the decision of regional director superceeds the decision of field representatives. The director stated that his decision or interpertation of the law is final. It was asked that funeral home owners write director of wage and hour law asking any questions they deem necessary in effort to determine the effect of such law on local funeral.homes operating ambulance service. The Mayor asked the Hospital Administrator to cooperate with the funeral homes on collection of charges for ambulance services of their patients.
