The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Arthur presiding
and the following council members present: Robert Herrin, Mrs. Doyle White, Garlan
Loudermilk, Charles Higgins, W. M. Irwin, Telefus Cawyer, Raymond Anderson, and
Mrs. Fred McCloskey.
Councilman Cawyer reported that Harlan Huey has agreed to sell his trash hauling
equipment to the city. Mr. Huey owes $18,000.00 on this equipment and will take
this amount for the business.
The Committee recommends that the City buy this equipment and trade it in on two
new trucks and put three men on each truck. Also make the dump ground self -
sustaining by charging to dump trash. In doing this it is felt that more persons
will pay to have the trash hauled.
Each of the Council member expressed their opinions of the City takeing over the
trash'hauling.
It was moved by Councilman Irwin and seconded by Councilman Riggins that the trash
hauling situation remain as it now stands. Motion carried by a vote of 5 for, one
against and 21gbstained.
Councilman Riggins reported that the golf course proposition has not been fully
discussed with all committee members; however, it has been discussed with the
city attorney and some of the Council members. There seems to be no way the deed
restriction can be changed and still be a Municipal Golf Course.
It was moved by Councilman Riggins and seconded by Councilman Herrin that the deed
restriction remain on the golf course. Motion carried by a vote of 6 for , one
opposed and one /,abstaining.
There being no other business at this time the Council stood adjourned subject
