HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970-05-01 - Special City CouncilStephenville, Texas May 1, 1970 The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Skipper presiding and the following council members present: Don Metsgar, Garland Loudermilk, Doug Smithey, W. M. Irwin, Jack Curtis, Toby Stone and Mrs. Fred McCleskey. Mr. W. T.. Culpepper appeared before the council stating that he is interested in developing a "housing for the elderly" project. Mr. Culpepper -has an option on the Long Hotel, bus station, and Texaco Service Station property. This property is suitable for this type development. Mr. Edd Brooks stated that the proposed housing is for persons over 62 years old and are on a limited income. Councilwoman McCleskey reported that she has visited similar facilities in Ether cities and they are very nice. Mr. Dick Harbin stated that the development would be owned by the city and be operated by an appointed Housing Authority such Housing Authority would be appointed by the City Council. The project will pay utility bills and a flat fee in line of taxes. This to be paid for out of rentals and Federal subsidy funds. It was reported that to enter into -the project would require council action to adopt a resolution creating the Housing Authority. It was moved by Councilman Smithey, seconded by Councilman Curtis, to authorize Mr. W. T. Culpepper to proceed with preliminary plans for Housing Project for the elderly. with no obligations to the City Council. Motion carried unanimously. - It was moved by Councilwoman McCleskey, seconded by Councilman Loudermilk, that the �— clause containing deed restrictions on the golf course not be changed.
