CONFERENCE ROOM C TARLETON CENTER STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS The City Council met in Special Session, Thursday, January 15, 1981, at 3:00 p.m. in Conference Room C, Tarleton Center, Stephenville, Texas. Mayor Joe Cummings, present and presiding, called the meeting to order. PRESENT: Mike Leese W. M. Irwin William G. Brede Charles Riggins ABSENT: None OTHERS ATTENDING: County Judge Mary McCoy County Commissioners: Abe Davis Son Fulfer Terry Owens Alvin Reeves City Administrator Kurt Ackermann Raymond Anderson E. W. Ferguson Larry Hammett David Clayton Mayor Cummings explained that the purpose of the special session was to meet with Erath County Commissioners and discuss final proposals for rural firefighting service performed by the Stephenville Fire Department. Commissioner Abe Davis, speaking on behalf of the county, proposed the following charges for fire service, ambulance service, and.housing of city prisoners at the county jail: 1. Erath County would pay to the City of Stephenville: a. $300.00 per fire alarm answered in the county. b. $50.00 per ambulance run made outside the city limits. 2. City of Stephenville would pay to Erath County: a. $25.00 per prisoner day for city prisoners housed in the county jail. After further review of ambulance costs and revenues for calendar year 1980, Councilman Riggins proposed that the county pay $65.00 per call for ambulance runs in the county. The proposal was accepted by the County Commissioners. Councilman Riggins made the motion, seconded by Councilman Irwin, that the City accept the following agreement with Erath County: Effective February 1, 1981 through September 30, 1981: a. The City of Stephenville would answer fire alarms in Erath County, outside the city's corporate limits, at a per call charge of $300.00, payable by Erath County. 94 b. The City of Stephenville would operate emergency and transfer ambulance service in the county, outside the city's corporate limits, at a per call charge of $65.00, payable by Erath County. C. Housing of city prisoners in the County Jail would be charged to the city at a rate of $25.00 per prisoner day. The motion carried unanimously. Mayor Cummings instructed City Administrator Kurt Ackermann to draft a letter notifying Santa Fe Railroad, that based on current costs, the city would charge the railraod $500.00 per fire. Mayor Cummings also stated that the City Council would like to meet again with the Commissioner Court during the summer to review figures and charges for fire, ambulance, and prisoner services for fiscal year '82.
