OF THE
CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, HELD ON
TUESDAY, JANUARY 18, 1983 - 1:00 P.M.
A special session of the City Council of the City of Stephenville was called to
order by the Mayor with the following members present:
Mayor Joe F. Cummings Councilman Charles Riggins
Councilman G. A. Swindle Councilman E. W. Ferguson
Councilman John E. Pollan Councilman Ray Reynolds
Councilman William G. Brede Councilman David Clayton
and with the following members absent: None
City Administrator Kurt J. Ackermann, City Secretary Joyce Pemberton, Director
of Finance Charlene Young were also present.
ITEM I: TO SET THE TAX RATE FOR THE 1982 TAX ROLL.
After some discussion, Councilman Swindle moved that the tax rate for the year
1982 be set at $0.256 /$100. Councilman Riggins seconded the motion. The motion
carried by the following vote:
AYES: All members present voted aye.
NOES: None
There being no other business to come before the Council, Mayor Cummings
adjourned the open meeting at 1:10 p.m.
EXECUTIVE SESSION.
Mayor Cummings called the Council into executive session at 1:30 p.m. for the
purpose of discussing matters of personnel as provided in the Open Meetings Act,
Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, Article 6252 -17, Article 2(g).
Mayor Cummings adjourned the executive session and called the Council to order
in open session and announced that no action would be taken at this time regarding
matters discussed in the executive session.
There being no other business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned
at 4:45 p.m.

AN ORDINANCE
Levying Advalorem Taxes on both real and personal property in
the City of Stephenville for the year 1982; providing for occupation
taxes on every person, firm or corporation pursuing any occupation,
profession or business in the City of Stephenville.
BE IT ORDAINED By the City Council of the City of Stephenville:
That the direct and advalorem municipal taxes by, and the same are
hereby levied for the calendar year, 1982 upon the $100.00 valuation
of all property both real and personal, in the City of Stephenville,
subject to taxation for the said year under the constitution of Steph-
enville adopted on the 4th day of April, 1961, for the purpose and at
the rate hereinafter specified.
SECTION 1: That a total tax of $0.256 shall be levied'on each
$100.00 valuation of all taxable property, both real and personal,
located in the City of Stephenville and appearing on the assessment
rolls for the year 1982 at 100% of value.
SECTION 2: That $0.256 of the above total tax is hereby speci-
fically levied for current expenses and general municipal purposes of
the City of Stephenville; that none of the above tax is levied for pay-
ment of the principal and interest on, and services on the outstanding
bonded indebtedness of the City of Stephenville.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Stephenville,
that there is hereby levied, and there shall be collected from every
person, firm or corporation pursuing any occupation, profession or
business in the City of Stephenville which is taxable by law, the full
amount of occupation taxes and the charter of the City of Stephenville.
PASSED AND APPROVED this the 18 day of January, 1983.
