The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, convened in special session Tuesday, May 10, 1994, at 5:30 p.m., in Council Chambers at City Hall, 354 N. Belknap Street, with the meeting being open to the public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, time, place and subject thereof, having been posted in accordance with Chapter 551, Government Code, V.T.C.S., with the following members present: Mayor: Lavinia Lohrmann Mayor Pro Tem: Scott Evans Councilmembers: Alan Nix Donald L. Zelman Sam Taylor II John Wooley William F. (Bill) Johnson Billy Bob Hodges Bill Bailey Absent: None Others Attending: Don Davis, City Administrator Cindy L. Stafford, City Secretary Randy Thomas, City Attorney I. CALL TO ORDER. Mayor Lavinia Lohrmann called the meeting to order and declared a quorum present. II. CANVASS THE ELECTION AND DECLARE THE RESULTS Mayor Lohrmann appointed Council members Don Zelman, Sam Taylor, and Bill Bailey as a committee to canvass the results of the City General Election held on May 7, 1994, with Don Zelman to chair the committee. The Canvassing Committee reported that they had canvassed the results and the Tally Sheet, and have determined them to be correct. Mayor Lohrmann read Resolution No. 94 -03 declaring that Barbara Terrell, Darrell W. Brown, Billy Bob Hodges, and Bill Corbin had been duly elected to their respective seats on the City Council in the City General Election held on May 7, 1994; and that Lavinia Lohrmann had been 132 duly elected to the office of Mayor. (Resolution attached to and becoming a part of these minutes.) Council member Taylor moved that the Council accept Resolution No. 94 -03 as read. Council member Evans seconded the motion. The motion carried by UNANIMOUS vote. OATH OF OFFICE ADMINISTERED Cindy L. Stafford, City Secretary, administered the Oath of Office to Lavinia Lohrmann, Barbara Terrell, Darrell W. Brown, Billy Bob Hodges, and Bill Corbin. These Council members and the Mayor were presented with Election Certificates and took their seats at the Council table. PRESENTATION OF PLAQUES Mayor Lohrmann presented a Plaque of Appreciation to each of the outgoing Council members- -Don Zelman, Sam Taylor, and Bill Bailey. Mayor Lohrmann reminded the new Council members to be considering the Standing Council Committees so that they may advise the Mayor on which committee they would like to serve. There being no other business to come before the City Council at this time, Mayor Lohrmann adjourned the meeting at 6:05 p.m. ATTEST: avinia Lo nn, Mayor Cindy L. ff.rd, ,'ty Secretary 133 RESOLUTION NO. 1994 -03 A RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE CITY GENERAL ELECTION. There came to be considered the returns of an election held on the 7th day of May, 1994 for the purpose of electing the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said election 1,224 valid and legal votes; that each of the candidates in said election received the following votes: MAYOR Lavinia Lohrmann 906 Bob Kimball 1q9 CITY COUNCIL. PLACE 2 CITY COUNCIL, PLACE 4 Barbara Terrell 922 Darrell W. Brown 790 Jesse Richard Luna 233 Glenda Jackson 34� CITY COUNCIL, PLACE 6 CITY COUNCIL, PLACE 8 Billy Bob Hodges 902 Joe Sanders 230 Don Parrack _ 1.20 Bill Corbin 89q NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS: That said election was duly called; that notice of said election was given in accordance with law, and that said election was held in accordance with law, and that: Lavinia Lohrmann was duly elected to Mayor; Barbara Terrell was duly elected to City Council, Place 2; Darrell W. Brown was duly elected to city Council, Place 4; Billy Bob Hodges was duly elected to City Council, Place 6; Bill Corbin was duly elected to city Council, Place 8. said above -named parties are hereby declared duly elected to said respective Offices, subject to the taking of their oaths of office as provided by the laws of the State Of Texas and the charter of the City of Stephenville, Texas.
