HomeMy WebLinkAbout1941-08-05 Regular Meetingv-S- y Stephenville, Texas August 5, 1941. The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in !, regular session on August 5, 1941, with Mayor J. W. Clemente presiding and the following aldermen present: Fred McCloskey, Dan Lane, L. kiggins, Dan Goodgame, Doyle White, Chas. Heblett Jr and C. A. McDonald. i Business was called for by the Mayor. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved. Chas. Ross and Jess Douglas came before the Council with a petition asking that the street between Chas. Ross and J. H. 3mit1 be widened and graded up; also, a petition asking that the street'', between W. 0. Croft and Mrs. Buck be opened up. This matter was referred to the street committee. Mr. Crutchfield, field man for the League of Texas Municipal+ ities at Austin, Texas, appeared before the Council asking that the City of Stephenville become a member of the League at a mem- bership price of $50.00 per year. After discussion, it was moved] by Doyle White, seconded by C. A. McDonald, that the City become j a member of the League. Motion carried. i It was moved by C. A. McDonald, seconded by LRiggine, that the minutes in Book D, Page 361, Section 4, be revised . (Copy attached and same being a part of these minutes). Motion carried, It was moved by Fred McCleskey, seconded by Dan Lane, that the 1940 Delinquent Tax Roll be added to the present contract of Joseph A. Chandler for collection of delinquent taxes. Motion carried. The Bid of $2.00 per year of the Stephenville State Bank for Depository of City Funds for the year beginning July 1, 1941, was opened and read. It was moved by L. Riggins, seconded by Fred McCleskey, that the City Council accept the bid of said bank for custody of the city funds for the ensuing year. Motion carried. It was moved by C. A. McDonald, seconded by Dan Goodgame, that the two 1912 Water Bonds Nos. 10 and 11, of $1000 each, be paid and whatever balance necessary be paid from General Fund. Motion carried. The Delinquent Tax Roll for the year 1940 was presented by ;Jack Henderson, Deputy City Tax Collector, for approval. The Finance Committee reported that they had examined the Delinquent 'I Roll as presented, and had found it to be correct. It was moved by Fred McCleskey, seconded by C. A. McDonald, that the Roll be ;accepted and approved. Motion carried. u 71 Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Fred McCleskey seconded by C. A. McDonald, were allowed and ordered paid. At this time an executive session was called for by the Mayo. There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the Mayor's call. Mayor.
