The City Council of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular session on June 4, 1940, with Mayor Clements and the following Aldermen present: T. T. Oliver, Jack Henderson, Fred McCleskey, Chas. Neblett Jr., H. D. Barham, K. D. Hamilton, L. Riggins, and Doyle White. Minutes of last meeting were read and approved. Mr. E. A. Blanchard came before the Council asking that the Gity purchase the Scargrough tract of land of some 200 acres, for the purpose of establishing an Air Port. After hearing Mr. Blanchard, Mayor Clements stated that he would appoint committees to act in regard to the matter. Miss Marian McElroy and Mr. B.B. Huckabee came before the Council asking that the City donate $15,00 per month to be paid -on salary of Miss Frances Gibson, now employed by the Welfare Department. Ib was moved by L. Riggins, seconded by Doyle White, that the City of Stephenville pay Miss Gibson $15.00 per month, pro- vided Erath County and the City of Dublin each pay her $15.00 per month. An amendment was offered to the motion by Chas. Neblett Jr., and accepted, that $15,00 per month be paid Miss Gibson provided Erath County and Dublin match same amount, but in the event that same is not matched by them, the $15.00 may still be paid, the decision resting with the Finance Committee. Motion carried. It was moved by T. T. Oliver, seconded by L. Riggins, that all City Firemen, members of the City Council, and Superintendent of Water Works, be issued free pass to all privileges to the swimming pool. Motion carried. Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Jack Henders seconded by Fred McCleskey, were allowed and ordered paid. There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned; in an adjourned regular meeting, subject to the Mayor's call. Mayor. City Secretary.
