HomeMy WebLinkAbout1940-02-06 Regular Meeting/ 7 sz Stephenville, Texas February 6, 1940. The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular session on the 6th of February, 1940. Mayor Henry Clark and the following Aldermen were present: T. T. Oliver, Jack Henderson, K. D. Hamilton, Fred McCloskey, L. Riggins, H. D. Barham, and Chas. Neblett Jr. Mr. S. F. Davis and others came before the Council asking for a larger water line on pest Vanderbilt Street. This matter was referred to the water committee. Mr. Turner presented the annual City audit for approval, and, after review of the audit a motion was made by Jack Henderson, seconded by Fred McCleskey, that the audit be approved and accepted. Motion carried. Mr. Wiley B. Thompson came before the Council asking that the City furnish a secretary for the W. P. A. After discussion, the City Attorney ruled that the City could not employ and pay such secretary. The Milk Ordinance, as previously before the Council, was referred to the Law & Order Committee. A Plumbers Bond of Earl Alexander was accepted and approved., A motion was made by K. D. Hamilton, seconded by Jack Hender- son, that a City Election be held on the first Tuesday in April, 1940, for the purpose of electing a Mayor and one Alderman in each of the four Wards. The motion was carried. Fred McCleskey made a motion, seconded by L. Ri gins, that nightwatchman, Geo. V+illiams' salary be raised from g20.00 per month to $30.00 per month, to begin February 1, 1940. Motion carried. Bills and accounts were read and on motion by T. T. Oliver, seconded by Jack Henderson, were allowed and ordered paid. There being no further business, the Council stood adjourned, gnblect to the Mayor's call. Ma or . ATTEST: City Secretary.
