The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, met in regular session on October 10, 1939, with Mayor Henry Clark and the following Aldermen present: K. D. Hamilton, Fred McCloskey, T. T. Oliver, Jack Henderson, Chas. Neblett Jr., L. Riggins, Geo.'' Minter and H. D. Barham. Minutes of previous meetings were read and approved. Business) was called for by the Mayor. Depository bond of The Stephenville State Bank was presented for approval. A motion was made by Fred McCleskey, seconded by K. D. Hamilton, that said bond be accepted and approved. Motion carried. Mr. F. M. Stigler came before the Council asking for funds to purchase supplies for the City Band. After consideration, a motion was made by Geo. Minter, seconded by Fred McCleskey, that + the band be allowed $150.00 to be paid from the General Fund and to be reimoursed from the band fund. Motion carried. Mr. Logan came before the Council asking for the position of Supervisor of Paving Project. No action was taken in the matter.' The '1939 City Tax Roll was presented by the Tax Assessor for; approval, after being recommended by the Finance Committee. A motion was made by Fred McCleskey, seconded by K. D. Hamilton, th4,,.t the City Tax Roll for 1939 be accepted and approved. The motion ! was carried. A report of the Zoning.Committee was read by the Secretary. A motion was made by Jack Henderson, seconded by Geo. Minter, that the report be tabled. Motion carried. A motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr., seconded by T. T. Oliver, that the Audit of City Accounts be placed in the hands of; the Finance Committee with authority to employ an Auditor. Motion carried. In the matter of Delinquent water bill due by Mr. C. B. Dewitt (as reported by the water department), a motion was made by K. D.' Hamilton, seconded by Jack Henderson, that Mr. Dewitt pay all delinquent water bills, otherwise for the water superintendent to have this water out off. Motion carried. The financial status of Mrs. G. H. Roberts, in regard to paying water bills, was discussed, after which motion was made byj K. D. Hamilton, seconded by T. T. Oliver, that the water committee investigate this case and if found to be unable to pay, that she Ibe placed on charity list and that all past due -bills be cancelled. The motion was carried. i� Bills and accounts were read and on motion by Fred McCloskey :.seconded by Goo. Minter, were allowed and ordered paid.
