HomeMy WebLinkAbout1938-06-07 Regular Session0 The City Council of the City of Stephenville met in regular session on the 7th day of June, 1938, with Mayor Henry Clark and the following Aldermen present: Chas. Neblett Jr., K. D. Hamilton{ T. T. Oliver, H. D. Barham, J. C. Holcomb, Jack Henderson, Geo. Minter, and R. B. Bassel. Minutes of previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Murphy, of the Texas Power & Light Company, came before the Council explaining reduction in light rates in the City. After hearing Mr. Murphy, a motion was made by R. B. Bassel, seconded bpi J. C. Holcomb, that such rates be accepted and approved. The motion was duly carried. Mrs. Hattie Hickey registered a request to have water extender to her place on the Alexander road. This request was referred to the Water Committee. Mrs. J. E. Burnett and others came before the Council asking for aid to carry on expenses at the City Library. This request was .referred to the Finance Committee. Jack Hendejr- extra No action, Motion was made by Chas. Neblett Jr. that the Council write Dean J. Thos. Davis a letter asking his views In regard to straight- ening Highway No. 10 at the Southwest corner of the College campus. Motion carried. An election of Mayor Pro-Tem was held resulting in eon being elected. The petition of J. M. Oxford and others asking that traffic and Police be put on duty in the City was read. was taken on this matter at this time. Bills and accounts were read and on motion by R. B. seconded by T. T. Oliver, were allowed and ordered paid. There being nothing else stood adjourned subject to the ATTEST; ,� City Secretary. Bassel, to come before the Council, they call of the Mayor. dJA May
