City of Stephenville - City Council
TUESDAY, MAY 23, 2017 — 8:01 P.M.
The City Council of the City of Stephenville, Texas, convened on May 23, 2017, at 8:01 p.m., in the
Council Chambers at Stephenville City Hall, 298 West Washington Street, for the purpose of a Special Council
Meeting, with the meeting being open to the public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, time, place
and subject thereof, having been posted as prescribed by Chapter 551, Government Code, Vernon's Texas
Codes Annotated, with the following members present, to wit:

Call to Order. The meeting of the Stephenville City Council was called to order at 8:01 p.m.
on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, by Mayor Weldon.
II. Oath of Office of Newly Elected Council Members
Mayor Weldon announced that Doug Svien had been previously sworn in as Place 3 Council
Member by the city secretary.
III. EXECUTIVE SESSION. At 8:02 p.m., Mayor Weldon recessed the open portion of the
meeting, and council went into executive session In compliance with the provisions of the
Texas Open Meetings Law, Subchapter D, Government Code, Vernon's Texas Codes,
Annotated, in accordance with Sec. 551.074 Personnel Matters (a)(1) to deliberate the
appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a
public officer or employee —City Secretary Position
Council reconvened in open session at 9:13 p.m.
IV. Action taken on matters discuss in executive session (if necessary)
MOTION by Doug Svien, second by Mark McClinton, to authorize the hiring of Staci King as
city secretary to become effective beginning with the first pay period in July 2017. MOTION
CARRIED by unanimous vote.
