Parks and Recreation Master Plan
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE
ADOPTING A PARKS AND RECREATION MASTER PLAN WHICH SHALL
GUIDE THE ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION FACILITIES.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Stephenville has engaged in the process
of planning for the acquisition and development of its parks and recreational system; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Stephenville authorized preparation of
the City of Stephenville Comprehensive Plan 1990-2010 for the city which included a section
on Open Space and Parks and Recreation, and included base study information necessary for
the preparation of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan; (goals and objectives, population,
land use, thoroughfares, parks, playgrounds, and community open space); and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Stephenville has instructed the City staff
to work with the citizens of Stephenville, consultant, school district, the university, and the
public to prepare a Parks and Recreation Master Plan which shall contain: (1) a description
of the City and its citizens; (2) goals and objectives; (3) plan development process; (4)
standards and design criteria; (5) inventory of parks and recreation facilities; (6) needs
analysis; and (7) implementation priorities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL, OF CITY
OF STEPHENVILLE:
Section 1: That the City Council of the City of Stephenville has received the 1996
Parks and Recreation Master Plan recommended by the City staff and the Parks and
Recreation Advisory Board;
Section 2: That the City Council of the City of Stephenville has hereby evaluated
and studied said 1996 Master Park and Recreation Plan;
Section 3: That the City Council of the City of Stephenville hereby adopts the
1996 Master Park and Recreation Plan as a guide for the acquisition and development of
parks and recreation facilities.
