HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-O-20 - Uniform Mechanical CodeI" AN ORDINANCE ADOPTING THE UNIFORM Mi.CHANICAL CODE OF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF BUILDING OFFICIALS, 1985 EDITION, AND PROVIDING FOR INSPECTIONS OF INSTALLATION AND CONSTRUCTION SET OUT IN SUCH CODE AND CALLING ATTENTION TO REQUIREMENT OF A PERMIT UNDER SUCH CODE ACID CALLING ATTENTION TO CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS UNDER SECTIOci 7 OF THE AIR CONDITIONING AND REFRIGERATION CONTRACTOR LICENSE LAW, ARTICLE 8861 OF THE REVISED CIVIL STATUTES OF TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR ENFORCEMENT OF THIS CODE Atii) PROVIDING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPRENV I LLE : Section One The City of Stephenville does hereby adopt the Uniform Mechanical Code of. International Conference of Building Officials, 1985 Edition, and such code is made a part of this ordinance to the same extent as if set out in this ordinance verbatim. Copy of such Uniform Mechanical Code is on file in the office of the City Administrator of the City of Stephenville. Section Two All construction and installation covered by such code shall be inspected by the City Inspector of the City of Stephenville who shall determine whether such code has been complied with and upon finding any violation of the code is authorized to make written report to the person making such violations, what these violations are and to give the installer ten days to correct such violations. If same are not corrected within ten days from receipt of this notice, installer shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and complaint may be filed by the City in the Municipal Court of the City of Stephenville for violation of this code and upon conviction of this violation, the person found guilty shall be fined in any, sum not less than $50-00 nor more than $200.00, ' Each day's continuation of the violation bhall constitute a separate offense. Section Three Attention is here called to the requirement in the Uniform Mechanical Code for a permit for each construction and installation set out in the Mechanical Code here adopted. Section Four Attention is here called to the regc irement that every person licensed under Section 7 of thee Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Contractor License Law, Article 8861 of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas that ea.:h person licensed under this Act shall notify the City of Stephenville that such person has obtained a state license by presenting such license to the City -Inspector who shall i,.ake a copy thereof for keeping in his office. No permit shal 1 be issued for the performance of any installation or construction to any person who does not have such a license. Performance of any installation or construction covered by said statute or the Mechanical Code without a state license shal'. constitute a Class B misdemeanor as provided in said statute.., This ordinance shall go. into effect frow. and after its passage and publication as required by law.
