ORDINANCE DECLARING A PORTION OF TURNER STREET RUNNING FROM
THE EAST LINE OF ST. FELIX AVENUE A DISTANCE OF 150 FEET TO
HAVE BEEN ABANDONED AS A STREET, ORDERING SAME VACATED AND
CLOSED AND PROVIDES FOR THE CONVEYANCE THERETO TO TARLETON
STATE UNIVERSITY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
STEPHENVILLE:
Section One
That portion of Turner Street running from the east line
of St. Felix Avenue a distance of 150 feet, situated south of
Block C-38 and north of Block D-38, Groesbeeck and McClelland
Addition to the City of Stephenville, Erath County, Texas, as
shown by King's 1956 Map of Stephenville at page 690 thereof,
is hereby declared to have been abandoned for street purposes
and said portion of said street is hereby ordered vacated and
closed.
Section Two
That portion of Turner Street hereinabove described has
been appraised and is hereby found by the City Council of
City of Stephenville to be of the value of $600.00. Said
amount having been offered by Tarleton State University for
said land, it is hereby ordered and directed that George
Swearingen, Mayor of the City of Stephenville, execute a
special warranty deed to Tarleton State University, conveying
the above described land, and such deed shall be delivered to
said grantee upon the payment by it to the City of
Stephenville of the said sum of $600.00, Tarleton State
University owning lots adjacent to said vacated portion of
Turner Street and having the right to buy same as a
governmental unit possessing the right of eminent domain.
