A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, TO RENAME CITY OF
STEPHENVILLE FIRE STATION NO. 2 IN HONOR OF RETIRING FIRE CHIEF JIMMY CHEW.
WHEREAS, Chief Jimmy Chew began his career with the Stephenville Fire Department on
December 1, 1970 and will retire from service to the citizens of Stephenville,Texas on July 30, 2021; and
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Stephenville wishes to recognize Chief Chew for serving
the citizens of Stephenville for over 50 years, as well as his contributions to the firefighting service in the
state of Texas and the entire nation; and
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Stephenville wishes to rename Fire Station No. 2 in honor
of Chief Chew and dedicated service and the legacy he leaves in his place.
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE,TEXAS,
THAT:
1. Fire Station No. 2 is hereby renamed Jimmy D. Chew Fire Station.
2. A plaque shall be erected in his honor outside of the Jimmy D. Chew Fire Station that
recognizes Chief Chew's outstanding and dedicated service to the City of Stephenville
PASSED AND APPROVED this 22nd day of July, 2021.
