You are hereby called to meet in special session

within said city of Stephenville at *Clock,on the 30th
day of March,1915,for the purpose of deciding whether or not
the Office of City Marshall of said City of Stephenville shall
be abolished,and whether or not,there shall be instituted in
its stead the Office of Chief of Police.

AN ORDINANCE ABOLISHING THE OFFICE OF CITY
MARSHALL OF THE CITY OF STEPEiENVILLE,AND CREATING THE
OFFICE OF CHIEF OF POLICE.
WIT ENACTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPE MILLE ;
SECTION 1. The office of City Marshall of the City of
Stephenville is hereby abClished,and from and after the taking
effect of this ordinance is declaxed vacated.

SECTION 11. The Office of Chief of Police of the City
of Stephenville is hereby created,and- from and after the taking
effect of this act the Chief of Police shall assume and exercise
all of the duties required under the General Laws of the State
of Texas and under the rules and ordinances of the City Council
of the City o3 Stephenville.
SECTION 111. This act shall take. effect on the First
Tuesday in April,the same being the 2rd,day of April,1918,and
from and after said time the Office of City Marshall shall be
in all things vacated,and on said 2rd,day of April,or within
five days thereafter the City Council of said City of Step-
henville shall proceed to appoint a competant and qualified
person as Chief of Police of the City of Stephenville,who
shall hold his office during. good behavier,or during such
time as the City Council may from time to time prescribe
SECTION 1V. All ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict with either,or all,of the foregoing sections,are
hereby repealed,but should it be judicially determined that
any section,or portion of this act is unconstitutional,void
or uninforcible,the remainder shall nevertheless,be of full
force and effect.
SECTION V. An imperiative public necessity is declared
to exist,- all rules axe declared suspended,and this act shall
be and remain in full force and effect from and after the 2rd,
day of Apri1,1918.
Done by the City Council in Special Session on this
30th,day of March,1918.
