The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Evans pre- siding and the following aldermen present: Virgil Dickerson, I. D. Reynolds, Chas. Riggins, Burl Lawrence, Albert Graves, Raymond Anderson, Scott D. Reed and J. P. Hedrick. Mr. Allan Tucker, of Rauscher- Fierce Co., appeared before the Council to present an ordinance approving Estimate # 1 of C. C. Gunter for laying of water lines, and that warrants shall be issued in payment of_this estimate. It was moved by Alderman Dicker- son, seconded by A lderman Graves, to adopt this ordinance. Motion carried unanimously. —(Said ordinance being attached to and becoming a part of these minutes). Mayor Evans explained briefly to the new members of the Council some of the policies and customs of the Council. Alderman Graves reported that Mr. Glen Cook had agreed to pay for the sewer line from the Groesbeck Addition to Dale Ave. Mayor Evans reported that in the past the Recreation Board had screened applicants to work at the Park during the summer months, then this Board made recommendations to the Council. There has been some confusion as to salaries, working hours and respon- sibilities of these employees. It was agreed that in the future all summer employees at the Park will be res- ponsible to the Park Committee and the City Council. It was moved by Alderman Hedrick, seconded by Alderman Dickerson, to accept ap- plications for Recreation Director until the 10th of May, 1960. The Director to be paid 0300.00 per month, and be allowed to hire a part time assistant director not to exceed $100.00 per month. Motion carried. It was moved by Alderman Dickerson, seconded by Alderman Graves, to accept a deed from J. M. Killough for lots 5- 6 -7 -8, Block 14, Frey First Addition. Motion carried. Nominations for Mayor.Pro -Tem were called for and Charles Riggins was nominated. It was moved by A lderman Reed, seconded by Virgil Dickerson, to elect Charles Riggins Mayor Pro -Tem by acclimation. Motion carried and Mr. Riggins was duly elected, Mayor Evans asked if the Council wanted to take any action on the proposed Plumb- ing Ordinance. After discussion, the Council agreed not to take any action until the next regular meeting. There being no other business, call.
