HomeMy WebLinkAbout1972-11-04 - Special City CouncilCity Hall Stephenville, Texas The City Council met in a called meeting Saturday morning, November 4,1972, at 8:00 A. M. with Mayor Don Jones presiding and the following members present: Toby Stone, W. M. Irwin, Charles Riggins, Raymond Anderson, Larry Hammett, Jack Curtis, and Doug Smithey. Others attending were: City Administrator Shelton and Director of Public Works Gann. The Mayor stated that the purpose of this meeting was to fully inform all the Council members of the landfill situation and to see if they could come to a definite decision on something before Tuesday night at regular meeting. The Mayor told the Council they had three places that they were considering: (1) The Miller Property, (2)Place at Lingleville and (3) The Smithey Property. At this time, the Mayor gave the reasons for and.against each of the above sites. The Mayor also told the Council that the problems don't change just the people, but that they don't have the time to keep looking. After much discussion, the Mayor appointed a committee of Councilmen Riggins, Anderson and himself to meet with Blackie Martin and the County Commissioners asking for them'to look at each place and give us a letter of their stand on each place. In conclusion the Mayor said they needed to narrow it down to one or two places, publish it in the paper as to price, location and amount of'land and `see what reaction it gets. Councilman Irwin suggested the Council adjourn to go look at the sites to see if they could come to some conclusions. Meeting adjourned. Mayor ATTES T: ity ecretary
