The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Jones presiding
and the following members present: Toby Stone, Garland Loudermilk, W. M. Irwin, Charles
Riggins, Larry Hammett, Jack Curtis, and Doug Smithey.
Others present were: Director of Public Works Gann, City Administrator Shelton, Fire
Chief Parham, Fireman Haley, and Jack Hancock with Gulf States Telephone Co.
Mayor Jones reported that the damage claim filed by Randy Garcia, who was injured by
one of the garbage trucks July 7, 1972, had been dropped. The claim is now against
Bill Bledsoe.
Mayor Jones also stated that at this time the Council needed to elect a City Health
Officer. Motion was made by Councilman Irwin, seconded by Councilman Stone, to re-
elect Dr. Leon M. Altaras as City Health Officer for a one year term. Motion carried
unanimously.
The bid tabulation for the laying of 2,000 feet of 12" cast iron water line near the
Jaycee Park was as follows:

Motion was made by Doug Smithey, seconded by Garland Loudermilk, to accept the low
bid of Fambro Pipe & Constr. Co. of $16,235.00. Motion carried: -
City Administrator Shelton reported on two landfill sites that he and Councilman
Hammett had looked.at. No action was taken. The Mayor asked that Mr. Shelton
check with Mr. Blackie Martin and the City Council of Dublin to discuss a county
wide dump ground. R. Y. Gann reported approximately two months left at present
site.
City Administrator Shelton presented the 1972 -73 budget to the Council. After
thorough discussion the following salary changes were made: Ronnie Isham in-
creased to $750.00, Robert Groves increased to $500.00, Erma Ferguson increased
to $750.00 and Lee Guest increased to $700.00. Also the Fire Dept was granted
$4000.00 for a radio alert system for all the paid and voluntary firemen:. The
Gulf States Telephone Co., represented by Jack Hancock, will continue their
alert system as a back up system..Motion was made by Councilman Riggins, seconded
by Councilman Curtis, to approve the 1972 -73 budget with the above changes. Motion
carried unanimously.
There being no other business, the Council stood adjourned, subject to the Mayor's
call.
