The City Council met on the above data in a called meeting with the following members
present: Charles Riggins, W. M. Irwin, Toby Stone, Jack Curtis, Larry Hammett,
Raymond Anderson, Doug Smithey and Mayor Donald Jones presiding.
Mayor Jones reported that concern had been expressed about Chief of Police Lynn
Cornell and his continuing insurance coverage now under the City's group policy.
,A motion was made by Councilman Irwin, seconded by Councilman Curtis that the City
pay the insurance premium on Chief Cornell through the month of May. Motion carried.
Mayor Jones reported that he had talked with several of the Senior Citizen Center
Board members and felt that a re- organization of the board was needed. He proposed
.that the Park and Recreation Committee of the Council be separate from a Senior-
Citizens Committee headed by the Mayor with the Council as a whole on the Committee.
A 5 member board would be appointed; 2 council members and 3 outside the council
to select a 15 member local board over the Senior Citizen Center who would be over
the director. This board would set up the by -laws subject to Council's approval.
Mr. Ben Lindsey from Austin of the Governor's Committee on aging was present and
discussed with the Council some of the requirements for the grant
to the Senior
Citizens Center and offered suggestions as to its operation. The
grant for funding
the Center had been approved for the April 1972 -- March 31, 1973
budget year.

Councilman Stone reported his investigation on an applicant for the position of
Chief of Police. After some discussion, it was decided that further checking
into the applicants qualifications would be necessary and this would be presented
at a later date.
There being no further business at this time, the Council stood adjourned subject
to the Mayors call. �n
