The City Council met in regular session on the above date with Mayor Donald
R. Jones presiding and the following members present: Roy McCoy, Larry
Hammett, Raymond Anderson, Jess Sexton, Jack Curtis and Toby Stone.
Others present were: City Administrator Shelton, Director of Public Works
Gann and City Inspector Lookingbill.
Councilman Sexton made the motion, seconded by Councilman Stone, to approve
the recommendation of the Zoning Board to change the zoning from R2 to B1 on
Block 29, Tarleton Heights Addition, City of Stephenville, Texas, as re-
quested by Gulf States - United Telephone Company, with the specifications that
no trucks or supplies be stored here. Motion carried. The telephone com-
pany is to install a Toll.Center and a 175 ft. microwave tower.
Mayor Jones reported that the Graham Street Church of Christ was interested
in buying the old Fire Station and property located at the corner of Green
Street and Belknap Street. After some discussion, Councilman Anderson made
the motion, seconded by Councilman McCoy, to authorize City Administrator
Shelton to invite bids for the sale of this property. Motion carried.
Mr. Cal McGee and City Inspector Lookingbill were present to 'discuss with the
Council the Plumbing Board's recommendation of adopting the Texas. Municipal
League Plumbing Code. Some members of the Council had some doubt concerning
the use of plastic pipe. After much discussion, Councilman Curtis made the
motion, seconded by Councilman Stone, to accept the recommendation of the
Plumbing Board to adopt the Texas Municipal League Plumbing Code with amend-
ments. After much more discussion, the Mayor called for question. The motion
carried by a vote of 5 for and 2 against. Councilmen Anderson and Chambers
voting against. —
There being no other business, the meeting adjourned.
