July 6, 1973
Stephenville, Texas
The City Council met in a called meeting on the above date with Mayor Pro Tem
Riggins presiding and the following members present: Toby Stone, Jesse Sexton,
Doug Smithey, Jack Curtis, Jim Chambers, and Raymond Anderson.
Mayor Pro Tem Riggins said the purpose of the meeting was the public hearing on
the rezoning of the property adjacent to the Greenview Addition. Mr. R. M. Savage
2004 W. Washington and Mr. Alva Rothell, 103 Greenview, were present and spoke to
the Council against the rezoning as both felt it would decrease the value of their
property. After some discussion, Councilman Chambers moved, seconded by Council-
man Smithey, that no action be taken until the report is in from the Committee from
the Planning Commission on the priorities list on the Master Plan and the extension
of Harbin Dr. Motion carried.
Councilman Stone moved, seconded by Councilman Curtis, to give the old grader that is
on the old landfill site to Mr. Johnny Hampton as part of the purchase of the land-
fill site. Motion carried.
Councilman Smithey made the motion, seconded by Councilman Chambers, to accept the
bid of $19,950.00 by the Caterpillar Co for afont end loader. Motion carried.
Mayor Pro Tem Riggins suggested that the Council members be giving some thought and
study to the Maintenance Bond for paving Contractors and street inspections problem
and maybe some action can be taken at the next regular meeting.
Councilman Stone asked about the status of the Revenue Sharing Fund. City Administrator
Shelton reported that from January, 1973 to June, 1973, we had received $121,000.00
and of that amount $96,000.00 had been spent, leaving a balance of $25,000.00. He
also said that in the latter part of July we will receive approximately $27,000.00.
There was some discussion on purchasing the property adjacent to the City Hall for
$48,500.00 plus $3,500.90. Mayor Pro Tem Riggins suggested waiting until the full
Council is present to make a decision on this and asked that this be put on the
agenda for the next regular meeting.
Meeting adjourned.
