MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE
CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, HELD ON
THURSDAY, APRIL 8, 1982 - 2:30 P.M.
An emergency meeting of the City Council of the City of Stephenville,
Texas, was called to order by the Mayor with the following members present:
Mayor Joe F. Cummings Councilman Charles Riggins
Councilman G. A. Swindle Councilman Raymond Anderson
Councilman John Pollan Councilman E. W. Ferguson
Councilman W. G. Brede Councilman David Clayton
and with.the following members absent: Councilman Ray Reynolds.
City Administrator Kurt Ackermann and City Secretary Joyce Pemberton
were present.
CONSIDER APPLICATION
Mayor Cummings advised that one purpose of this meeting was to con -
sider a request from Ross J. Musso, a candidate for Place 4, in the April
3rd City Officers Election, for a recount of ballots cast for candidates
in Place 4 in said election. Mayor Cummings also advised that Mr. Musso
has complied with all rules and regulations pertaining to a request for
a recount.
Councilman Riggins moved that the City Council set Monday, April
12, 1982 at 1;30 p,m. in Council Chambers as the date, time and place
for a recount of ballots cast for Place 4 in the April 3, 1982 City
Officers Election. .
David Cheatham, chairman, Gladys Bodine and Lee Solley be appointed
as the Recount Committee to be paid at a rate of $3.50 per hour.
The City Secretary to notify by main each candidate for Place 4 of
the date, time and place of the recount.
An order to be issued to the City Secretary to turn over the ballot
box or boxes of said election to the chairman of the Recount Committee at
above mentioned date, time and place.
An order be issued to the Chief of Police to deliver to the chairman
of the Recount Committee the keys to the ballot boxes at above specified
date, time and place.
The Recount Committee to report to the City Council in Called Meeting
April 13, 1982 at 3 ;00 p.m.
Councilman Swindle made the second, The motion carried by the following
Vote:
AYES; All members present
NOES: None
ITEM TI; ELECT MAYOR PRO TEM
Councilman Riggins nominated Councilman Swindle as Mayor Pro Tem.
There being no other nominations, Councilman Swindle was elected
Mayor Pro Tem by acclamation.
There being no other business to come before the Council, Mayor
Cummings adjourned the meeting at 2:40 p.m.
