OF THE
CITY OF STEPHENVILLE, TEXAS, HELD ON
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5, 1983 - 2:00 P.M.
An emergency meeting of the City Council of the City of Stephenville was called to
order by the Mayor Pro Tem with the following members present:
Mayor Pro Tem G. A. Swindle Councilman Charles Riggins
Councilman John E. Pollan Councilman Ray Reynolds
Councilman William G. Brede
and with the following members absent: Mayor Joe F. Ctmndngs, E. W. Ferguson, and David
Clayton.
City Administrator Kurt J. Ackermann and City Secretary Joyce Pemberton were present.
ITEM I: SET DATE FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO CONSIDER PROPOSED TAX RATE.
City Administrator Kurt Ackerma*n explained that he had called Austin and talked
to the technical assistance people with the State Property Tax Board. He told them what
had occurred. Their reconmendations was to begin the procedure again. This would mean
that (1) tomorrow (January 6, 1983) hold another emergency meeting to give notice that
the tax rate will be increased 10.19°/ over the calculated effective rate. At the end of
that meeting, the Council would set the date, time, and place for the public hearing.
At the end of the public hearing, the Council can set the date, time, and place for the
meeting in which they will set the actual rate itself.
It was the consensus of the Council to call an emergency meeting for Thursday,
January 6, 1983 at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of establishing a date, time, and place
for a public hearing to consider a new tax rate.
There being no other business to come before the Council, the meeting adjourned.
