November 3, 1953.
The City Council met in regular session on the above date
with Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present:
J. W. Clements, Herman Ferguson, J. P. Hedrick, Joe B. Frey,
and J. T. Mays.
Others present were Joseph A. Chandler, J. P. Anderson
and W. L. Moore.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Mrs. Vance Terrell and Mrs. Hancock came before the Coun-
cil requesting $562.17 out of the City Band Fund for new un-
iforms for the High School Band. After some discussion, the
following motion was made by Alderman Clements, seconded by
Alderman Frey, that this amount of money be transferred from
the General Fund to the Band Fund and said amount to be paid
on the new uniforms out of the Band Fund. Motion carried un-
animously.
Mr. Clinton Cox appeared before the Council as Chairman
for the Stephenville Centennial of 1954, asking for the co-
operation of the City Council in every way possible to make
this program a success. It was moved by Alderman Ferguson,
seconded by Alderman Hedrick, that the City Council go on re-
cord as supporting the 1954 Stephenville Centennial as far as
possible. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Alderman Mays, seconded by Alderman
Clements, that the City purchase one portable Resusitator-
Inhalator from the Sanberg Company for the Fire Department.
Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman
Mays, that the 1953-54 City Budget be adopted and approved.
Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman
Ferguson, that the City Tax Rate for the year 1953 be set at
$1.50 per one hundred dollar valuation, with each $1.50 to be
prorated in the following manner:

Street Lighting Fund------------------ .12

Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman
Hedrick, that all dimes collected from the City Parking Meters
during the month of January, 1954, will be donated to the March
of Dimes. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Alderman Hedrick, seconded by Alderman Fer-
guson, that the City renew an insurance policy for the airport
with Harry E. Braeuer Insurance Agency. Motion carried uaanimousl
ly.
It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman
Frey, that the following Resolution be adopted:
"RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of Stephenville,
is authorized to enter into the execution of an instrument along
with the owners of McAlister's Second Addition to the City of
Stephenville, Texas, for the purpose of correcting the Map first
filed for record of said Addition and which will release any
claims of the City of Stephenville to the area shown on said
plot as a park area, and shown on the corrected plat to be
filed for record as Lot 5, in Block 6, of McAlister's Second
Addition, in which instrument the Mayor shall be joined by the
City Secretary for the purpose of attesting same, the City never
having taken any action toward accepting said park dedication
and said land still being situated outside of the City Limits of
Stephenville, Texas. Motion carried unanimously.
It was moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman
Clements, that bills and accounts be allowed and ordered paid.
Motion carried unahimously.

The City Council met in a called session on the above date with
Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present: Joe B.
Frey, Scott D. Reed, Joe T. Roach, Herman Ferguson, Leonard Wood and
J. Mays.
The Council met with Mr. Stanley Brown, architect, for the pur-
pose of going over final drawings for the new City Hall & Fire Sta-
tion building.
After some discussion, it was agreed by the Council to accept
new plans for City Hall and Fire Station and set December 15, 1953)
at 8:00 P. M. at the Frey Room of the Farmers First National Bank,
as the date to open sealed bids for new building.
It was moved by Alderman Frey, seconded by Alderman Mays, that
the Mayor be authorized to sign contract between City of Stephenville
and Stanley Brown upon the approval of the contract by City Attorn ey
Joseph A. Chandler. Motion carried unanimously.
There being no other business at this time, the Council stood
adjourned subject to the Mayor's call.
