The City Council met in regular session on the above date with Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present J. P. Hedrick, John Hancock, Leonard Wood, Herman Ferguson, Grover Hale, J. W. Clements, J. T. Mays and Joe T. Roach. Others attending were City Attorney Chandler and Chief of Police 1oore . Dlinutes of last meeting were read and approved. Mr. 0. H. Denman appeared before the Council requesting that something be done in regard to changing the present form of City Government to Home Rule form of Government. 'Phis matter was discussed and it was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman Mays, that the Council consider the Home Rule City Charter at the next regular meeting. JiNiotion carried. Mr. Luther P. Hale came before the Council asking for an opportunity to bid on the 1953-54 City audit. The hiring of a janitor for the new City Hall building was discussed. All applications were opened and read. It was moved by Alderman Wood, seconded by Alderman Hale, that the City hire Jack Cashon at w30.00 per month for this job. Motion carried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman Ferguson, that ?1000.00 be transferred from the General Fund to the Park Fund, also that a u1000.00 be transferred from the General Fund to the R & B Fund. Motion carried. A letter from the Stephenville State Bank, as a depository, was opened, for the keeping of the City Funds for the year 1954-55, and the bid was n615.00. It was moved by Alderman Hedrick, seconded by Alderman Mays, that the City accept the bid of the Stephenville State Bank for the $615.00. Motion car- ried unanimously. It was moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman Hedrick, that Mrs. Annie Ruth Kelley be granted a salary raise of N15.00 per month, effective as of July 1, 1954. Motion car- ried unanimously. The Council discussed Mr. C. C. Pemberton's wanting to pay rent for office space used by him for his trash collection during the first 10 days of each month. No action was taken. It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman Bale, that the petition by H. S. Groesbeck, Mrs. C. H. Boeck and Iirs. N% K. Groesbeck, the map and plat of the L. H. Groes- becks subdivision on the new Farm to Market Highway between Dublin and Lingleville Highways be accepted and filed for record as the official City Map of the said territory. Motion carried. (Said papers being attached to and becoming a part of these minutes). It was moved by Alderman Pays, seconded by Alderman Han- cock, that the City Fire Plarshal and two firemen be sent to Texas A. & M. Firemen's Training School at College Station. Motion carried. (It was suggested that the City Secretary go ahead and issue necessary expense money for the above three men). It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman Roach that the City purchase one Standard AIatchman's Clock from the Lathem 'A'atchman'.s Clock Co. of Atlanta) Ga. i•'otion carried. Alderman Clements reported that the 1942 Nord Pumper Fire Truck needed a new motor and transmission, that the cost would probably be ;{500.00. It was moved by Alderman Hancock, seconded by Alderman Clements, that the fire Committee accept bids for a new motor and transmission for this truck. Motion carried. zs The Council discussed a possible date for Open House for the new City Hall & Fire Station. It was moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman Hedrick, that the date for the Open House be set for July 31, 1954, from 3:00 P. N. until 9:00 P. 1!. i�Totion carried. P�iotion. carried. i-iayor Glark appointed Leonard ',food, as Chairman, Herman Ferguson and J. P. Hedrick, to serve as the com- mittee. It was moved by Alderman Male, seconded by Alderman Hancock, that Price Jackson be given a_ 120.00 raise in salary, effective as of July 1, 1954. Motion carried. Alderman Hancock reported that the stage in the vecreation Hall at the City Park needed new curtains. After some discussion, it was suggested that the Park Committee look into this matOr and report back their findings at the next regular meeting. It was moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman Hedrick, that the City hire Tommy King to make a new City T,.ap for the tax department at a cost of $600.00. Potion carried. It was moved by alderman Clements, seconded by Alder- man Ferguson, that bills and accounts be allowed and ordered paid. Motion carried.
