AN ORDINANCE MAKING A PART OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE A TRACT OF
LAND SITUATED ADJACENT TO THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE AND BEING OUT
OF THE WK. SIMS SURVEY, DESCRIBING THE LAND AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE:
That certain area of land situated adjacent to the City
of Stephenville and specifically described as follows:
All that certain tract or parcel of land, a part of the
Wm. Sims survey, Abst. No. 683, described by metes and
bounds as follows:
BEGINNING in the West line of the Wm. Sims survey and
East line of the original town of Stephenville, at the
intersection of said line with the South line of the
G. C. & S. F. Railroad as said railroad is constructed
through said Sims Survey; said point being about 990
feet S 30 E from the NWC of said Sims survey;
THENCE N 28 E 1840 feet running with the South line of
said railroad to the North line of said Sims survey;
THENCE N 60 E with the North line of said Sims survey to
the NEC of Block 3 out of said Sims, a distance of about
40 feet;
THENCE S 30-30 E 2115 feet running with the East line of
said Block 3 to its SEC in the North line of Block 13 out
of said Sims survey;
THENCE S 60 W 350 feet with the North line of Block 13 and
South line of Block 3 to the NEC of the J. W. White 2.39
acre Lot 9 out of said Block 13 at a point 544 feet N 60 E
from the East line of Highway No. 281;
THENCE S 10-02 E with the East line of the J. W. White 2.39
acre tract, the East line of a 17.22 acre tract, and the
East line of the Jimmie Cook White 7.11 acre tract, said
line being the West line of the former White 65.28 acre
tract, a distance of 2111.9 feet to the NEC of the H. C.
Smith Lot No. 22;
THENCE S 33 E with the East line of said Lot 22 and West
line of the Higginbotham Bros. Co. tract, at 210 feet cross
the North lire of Highway No. 377 in all 310 feet to the
South line of said highway (or East Washington Street;)
THENCE S 57-30 W 325 feet with the North line of said
highway to a corner in said highway right of way;
THENCE S 30 E 10 feet to another right of way corner;
THENCE S 60 W 30 feet to another right of way corner;
THENCE S 15 W 145 feet to another right of way corner;
THENCE S 30 E 500 feet with the East line of U. S. Highway
No. 281 to the beginning of a curve in said highway;
THENCE Southerly with said curve in the East line of said
highway 470 feet to the West line of said Sims survey and
East line of the original city of Stephenville;
THENCE N 30 W 4620 feet with said survey line to the place
of beginning as shown on the attached plat;
is hereby received into the City of Stephenville and made a part
of the City of Stephenville and the City Limit lines of the City of
Stephenville are hereby extended in accordance with the lines of the
tract of land hereinabove described.
The fact that an election has been held in compliance
with Article 974 of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas in the area
of land hereinabove described in which a majority of the inhabitants
qualified to vote for members of the State Legislature voted in
favor of becoming a part of the City of Stephenville and an affidavit
has been made by three of said inhabitants to the fact of holding
this election and its having carried by a majority which affidavit
has been filed with the Mayor of the City of Stephenville who has
certified the same to the city council, creates a demand and need
that this ordinance be enacted and further creates an emergency, and
an imperative public necessity requiring that this ordinance become
effective immediately. Therefore, any rule of law that might re-
quire such ordinance to be read at more than one meeting of the
city council is suspended and the same are hereby suspended and
this o dinance hereby finally adopted and passed on this day
of , 1954 and same shall be effective immediate y.
