AN ORDINANCE MAKING A PART OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE THE DON
KING AND MRS. MATTIE B. ROBERTS LAND SITUATED ON THE JOHN BLAIR
SURVEY IMMEDIATELY ADJOINING THE PRESENT NORTH CITY LIMIT LINES
OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE AND BEING SITUATED ADJACENT TO THE
PRESENT SAFEWAY STORE SITE, DESCRIBING SAID LAND BY METES AND
BOUNDS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE:
' That certain area of land situated adjacent to the City
of Stephenville and specifically described as follows:
All of that certain tract or parcel of land, a part
of the B.W. Roberts 582 acre Subdivision of the John
Blair Survey, Abstract No. 32, in Erath County, Texas
adjoining the City of Stephenville, Texas and described
by metes and bounds as follows, to -wit:
BEGINNING in the North city limit line of the City of
Stephenville, as of January 2, 1957, at the intersection
of said line with the projection to the South of the
East line of North Paddock Avenue as same is situated
on the East side of that certain 2.8121 acre tract
conveyed by Don King et al to Safeway Stores, Inc.,
for the S.E. Corner of this;
THENCE S 60 deg W with the North line of said City
About 1165.8 feet to the intersection of said line
with a projection to the South of the West line of
the King & Roberts property and East line of the
Sullivan property which was formerly owned by W.G.
Christie;
THENCE N 30 deg W at about 85 feet cross the North
line of Lingleville Road at the S.E. Corner of said
Sullivan property, in all 1296.2 feet more or less
to the N.E. Corner of said Sullivan and N.W. Corner
of King & Roberts in the South line of the T.A. Ray
88 acre tract for N.W. corner of this;
THENCE N 60 deg E 1343.3 feet to the N.W. Corner of a
5 acre tract conveyed by Don King to M.B. Thomas for
the N.E. Corner of this;
THENCE S 30 deg E 957.4 feet to the N.E. Corner of
that certain 1 acre tract conveyed by Don King et al
to Trustees, Erath County School Board by Deed of
record in Voa. 303, page 131, deed records of said
county;
THENCE S 59 deg 28 min W 180 feet to the N.W. Corner
of said School 1 acre in the East line of N. Paddock
Avenue;
THENCE S 30 deg E at 242 feet pass the S.W. Corner of
said School tract, in all 331 feet more or less to the
place of beginning, SAVE AND EXCEPT that certain 2.8121
acres conveyed by Don King et al to Safeway Stores Inc.
in 1955;
is hereby received into the City of Stephenville and made a part of
the City of Stephenville and the City Limit lines of the City of
Stephenville are hereby extended in accordance with the lines of
the tract of land hereinabove described.
This ordinance is passed for the purpose of granting the
petition of the owners of the hereinabove described land, which
is vacant and without residents, duly made in writing to this council
and said territory is hereby received and annexed and the future
inhabitants of such land shall be entitled to all the rights and
privileges of other citizens of Stephenville and shall be bound by
the acts and ordinances of the City.
The fact that the owners of the hereinabove described land
have made written petition to the City of Stephenville and the city
council of Stephenville in accordance with law that such land be
made a part of the City of Stephenville and be annexed creates a

a demand and need that this ordinance be enacted and creates an
emergency and an imperative public necessity requiring that this
ordinance become effective immediately. Therefore, any rule that
might require such ordinance to be read at more than one meeting
of the city council is suspended and this ordinance hereby finally
adopted and passed on this /41_ day of 1957 and
same shall be effective immediately.
