AN ORDINANCE MAKING A PART OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE LAND ADJACENT
TO THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE AND OUT OF THE JOHN BLAIR SURVEY AND
BEING COMMONLY KNOWN AS THE OLD CITY DUMP GROUND LAND WHICH IS IM-
MEDIATELY ADJOINING THE PRESENT NORTH CITY LIMIT LINESS OF THE CITY
OF STEPHENVILLE, DESCRIBING SAID LANDS BY METES AND BOUNDS AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF STEPHENVILLE:
F 1 That certain area of land situated adjacent to the City of
Stephenville and specifically described as follows:
All of that certain tract or parcel of land, a part of the
John Blair Survey, Abstract No. 32, in Erath County, Texas, de-
scribed as follows, to wit:
BEGINNING at the S. W. Corner of that certain 52 acre tract
out of said Blair Survey conveyed by J. H. Cage to City of
Stephenville by deed of record in Vol. 73, page 615, in the
Deed Records of Erath County, Texas, in the South line of
the former B. W. Roberts 582 acre subdivision of said Blair
Survey, at the S. E. Corner of the Tait Moring land, and in
the North line of the W. Chamberlin Estate land;
THENCE N. 60 E. With the South line of said 52 acres to the
West line of F. M. Highway No. 2215, or N. Harbin Ave., for
an internal corner of this;
THENCE S. 30 deg. . with the West line of said Highway No.
2215 to the N. E. Corner of that certain tract conveyed by
W. Chamberlin, Jr.; et al to Dr. Nathan Cedars and wife, and
North line of the present City of Stephenville;
THENCE N. 60 deg. E. 100 feet to the East line of said High-
way No. 2215 and West line of Block A of the Chamberlin
Addition;
THENCE N. 30 deg. W. with the East line of said Highway No.
2215 to the North line of the former Chamberlin farm and
South line of said 52 acre tract;
THENCE N. 60 deg. E. with the South line of said 52 acre
tract to the West (or South) line of State Highway No. 8,
or Lingleville Road;
THENCE Westerly and Northly with the North line of the City
of Stephenville property and South line of said Highway No.
8 and with the present City Limit line to a corner of said
City Limit which is Southerly of and at right angles across
the highway from the Western corner of the W. B. Trigg prop-
erty;
THENCE Northerly at right angles across the Highway No. 8 to
the Western corner of said tract property, and a corner of
the Sharp Subdivision of said Blair Survey;
THENCE Westerly with the North line of said Highway No. 8
and South lines of the John Sharp and Paul Howell tracts
around a curve to the right to the end of said curve at
Station No. 445 plus 58.6 on the center line of said High-
way No. 8, in the South line of the Paul Howell 9.4 acre
tract out of said Blair Survey;
THENCE S. 34-30 W. at right angles across said Highway No.
8 at its centerline station 445 plus 58.6 to the South line
of said Highway No. 8; in the North line o f the Tait Moring
farm;
THENCE Southeasterly with the North line of the Tait Moring
property and South line of the said Highways Nos. 8 and 2215
to the East line of the Moring land and West line of the 52
acre tract mentioned above;
THENCE S. 30 E. with the East line of said Moring and West
line of said 52 acres to the place of beginning;
is hereby received into the City of Stephenville and made a part of
the City of Stephenville and the City Limit lines of the City of
Stephenville are hereby extended in accordance with the lines of the
tract of land hereinabove described.
This ordinance is passed for the purpose of granting the
petition of the owners of a portion of the hereinabove described
land, which is vacant and without residents, duly made in writing
to this council and for the purpose of making the land included
in the above description which is owned by the City of Stephen-
ville a part of the City of Stephenville, and said territory is
hereby received and annexed and the future inhabitants of such
land shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges of other
citizens of Stephenville and shall be bound by the acts and or-
dinances of the City.
The fact that the above described land is situated adja-
cent to an inhabited portion of the City of Stephenville and
same is prospective residential property makes it to the best
interest of the City of Stephenville that same be annexed to
the City and creates an emergency that this ordinance be enacted
and creates an imperative public necessity requiring that this
ordinance become effective immediately. Therefore, any rule
that might require such ordinance to be read at more than one
meeting of the City Council is suspended and this ordinance here-
by finally adopted and passed on this day of ,
1958.
