Home My WebLink About1956-08-17 Curbs and Gutter Ordinace�l Lf AN ORDINANCE SETTING OUT SPECIFICATIONS FOr1BARB AND GUTTER CONSTRUCTED HEREAFTER ON THE STREETWOW THE CITY OF STEPtIENVILLE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COliNCIL.OF THE CITY OF STZIIHENVILLE:`• Section One In curb and nutter hereafter constructed by the city or by any person, firm or corporation on and immediately ad jacenk to any public street or alley inthe town or Stephenville, Texas'°Shall be constructed of the followin__ material in the pro- p ort ions statel: If washed rock and washed sand are used in the concrete min, then the proportions shall be I cubic feet of rock, 2 cubic feet of washed sand and 1 cubic foot of cement; If pit run or river sand and gravel is used, the pro- - portions shall be I cubic feet of rock or ,ravel, 2 cubic feet of sand and 1 cubic foot of cement; The above specifications shall apply to the base for curb and gutter. Section Two Forwthe material in the toppin of such curb and gutter to be constructed, the proportions shall be two cubic feet of sand to one cubic foot of cement. Section Three The dimensions of curb and gutter to be hereinafter.,;, constructed shall be as follows: The curb shall be a height of 12 inches froili too tqp thereof to the bottom; The top of the curb shall be 5 inches in thioK and -the distance from the top of the gutter to:it top or the curb slhall be , inches; The gutter shall be C inches thick and same shill IS inches long from where it joins the curb out to' the end thereof, and the curb whereit joins the gutter - shall be G inches thick; Curb and gutter at all corners at intersections must be set on 10 ft. radius from property lane. Section Six The city engineer of the City of Stephenville shall inspect all curb and gutter construction and same shall be subject to his approval as meeting the details and specifica- tions and requirements set out herein. Section Seven It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corpor- ation to construct in the City of Stephenville any curb and gutter or any curb or gutter which does not meet the requirements as to material and specifications as to construction set out in this ordinance and any such curb and gutter so constructed which has not been approved by the City Engineer of the City of Stephen- ville shall subject the person constructing same to a fine of not less than Al 00 nor more than $100.00. Any such curb and gutter so constructed which shall not meet the requirements and specifications of this ordinance shall be removed by and under the direction of the city engineer of the City of Stephen- ville. Further, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to fail to repair any damage to existing pavement or to construct gutter which shall not be on level with exist- ing pavement and the city shall repair any such damage and correct any failure of said gutter to be on proper level with existing pavement and assess the cost thereof against the property owner and/or contractor responsible therefor. Viola- tion of this ordinance as to failure to repair damage or to con- struct gutter on level with existing pavement shall subject the person constructing same to a fine of not less than $1.00 nor more than $100.00. Section Eight The fact that curb and gutter is being constructed from time to time in the City of Stephenville by persons, firmp._ or corporations other than the City of Stephenville creates a.--, necessity that this ordinance go into effect immediately from and after its passage and publication as required by law and same shall go into effect after its passage and publication as provided by law.
