Anderson, R. B. McMahan, J. L. Day, Louis Lowery, Wayne Rodman,
Chester Lowery, Blanche Davis, Annie Ruth Kelley; and the follow-
ing employees be raised $20,07 per month: Billy G. Britton, E. C.
Brook, W. C. Butler, L. A. Cox, Wk. H. Collins, R. R. Danner, K.
S. Hooks and J. L. Johnson; mad that all hourly men be paid
$1,oe per hour,and the difference in a few individual employees
wages be looked into and taken up at a later meeting of the City
Council. Motion carried.
It was moved by Alderman Murray, seconded by Alderman Reed,
that the above mentioned raises were to be effective as of May
1, 1956, Motion carried Unanimously.
Mr. Tommy King discussed with the Council his wanting to
repaie a new map for City Tax Department at a total cost of
4v000.00 to the City. ---
Ater discussion, it was moved by Alderman Hugon, seconded
by Alderman Reed, that King Abstract Co. be given the authority
to prepare a new City Map, said map to be complete and in poss-
ession of the City not later than December 31, 1956, and the
Finance Committee to be designated to contact Erath Co. Commis-
sioners and Stephenville School Board to attempt to sell each a
copy of the above mentioned map at not less than $1000,00 per
cop , also to sell to local utilities or individuals at a price
of 60.00 without printing cost to City, and upon delivery of
said Map from King Abstract Co. the City is to pay the $4t000.00. j
Motion carried unanimously.
Alderman Hugon reported the dwelling house at the City Air-
port was in need of repair. After some discussion, it was sug-
gested that the Airport Committee get several bids on the work
that should be done and said bids be discussed at the next reg-
ular meeting.
Alderman Price discussed the need of an ordinance prohibit-
ing the sale or possession of fireworks within the city limits..
This matter was further discussed but no action taken at this
time.
Alderman Price also discussed the present parking motor
situation. It was suggested that the Law & Order Committee meet
with the Chief of Police and work this matter out.
It was suggested, and agreed, that the City have a clean-
up week as soon as possible, that the City Secretary be author-
ized to work out the necessary details with Mr. C. C. Pemberton
to handle the matter.
Alderman Hedrick introduced a resolution and moved that it
be adopted. The move was seconded by Alderman White and carried
with it the adoption of the following resolution:
RESOLUTION
Resolved: By the City Council of the City of Stephenville,
Texas, that the City Tax Rate for the tax year 1956 be set at
$1.60 per $100.00 valuation.

Alderman White discussed the prohibiting of parking along
Washington Street, one block east and one block west of the
Public Square. This matter was talked over and it was suggested
that the Street DBpt. Committee look into it further before any
action be taken.
It was moved by Alderman Hugon, seconded by Alderman Reed,
that all traffic be restricted to one way, south to north, on
Erath Street, and no exit be allowed onto Washington Street
from Erath St. Motion carried.
Alderman Price reported that it had been brought to his.
attention that the upstairs offices in the old City Hall,where
the Welfare Department is located, needed to be painted. After
discussion, it was suggested that the City Secretary look into
this matter and report back at a later date.
It was moved by Alderman Hedrick, seconded by Alderman
Murrary, that $1500.00 be transferred from General Fund to R &
B Fund, and $500.00 from General Fund to Park Fund. Motion
carried.
It was moved by Alderman Hedrick, seconded by Alderman
White, that bills and accounts be allowed and ordered paid.
Motion carried.
There being no other business at this time, the Council
stood adjourned subject to the Mayor's call.

The City Council met in called session on May 24, 1956, with
Mayor Evans presiding and the following aldermen present: Doyle
White, David Hugon, Chas. Riggins, Philip Price, J. P. Hedrick,
Herman Ferguson, Dean Murray and Scott D. Reed.
Mayor Evans reported the purpose of the meeting was to open
and discuss the following bids on Sewer Improvement:
1. Steed Construction Co. (140 days) --------------- $133,872-.00
2. Herman W. Holtzer (200 days)-------------------- 151*490,73
3. J. C. Oliver (180 days)------------------------- 1349318.53
4• W. L. Rea (200 days)---------------------------- 147*216.05
Mayor Evans ask if there was any questions or discussion. Since
there was none, he turned the above bids over to Messrs. Williams
and Davis, representatives of Reaves & Gregory, for them to tab-
ulate and study, then report back their recommendations at a later
date.
It was suggested and agreed to have a called meeting at
7:00 P. M. on May 29th, 1956.
It was moved by Alderman Hugon, seconded by Alderman Hedrick,
that the City notify Reaves & Gregory, Cons ulting Engineers. -to
use clay tile pipe in sewer extention work. Motion carried unan-
imously.
Alderman Hedrick reported the lease --ion the old dump ground
would expire on June 1st and Mr. Berry wanted to re -lease for
another year. It was moved by Alderman White, seconded by Alder-
man Reed, that the City lease to W. H. Berry, for one year, the
old City Dump Ground, located along the Lingleville Road, for
the sum of $60.00 (4rune 1, 1956 to June 1, 1957); and with the
understanding that the City reserves the right to forfeit said
lease upon a reasonable notice and City will make an adjustment
for balance of lease year. Motion carried unanimously.
The City Secretary discussed the following with the Council:
