April 6, 1956.
The City Council met in called session on the above date with
Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present: Dean
"Murray, J. W. Clements, Chas. Ri.-gir_s, John Hancock and J. P. Hedrick.
It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman Hedrick,
that the Mayor appoint a committee to canvass the City Election re-
turns. Potion carried. The Mayor appointed Aldermen Hancock, Hedrick
and Riggins as this committee and they in turn reported the election
returns in order.
It was then moved by Alderman Hancock, seconded by Alderman
Riggins, that the election returns and payroll for holding same be
approved. Motion carried unanimously (said elections returns being
attached to and hocoming a part of these minutes).
Alderman Hedrick reported the following recommendations in form
of a motion, seconded by Alderman Hancock, that the City hire Mrs.
Ben F. Allen at a salary of $10.00 per week to keep the register at th
Golf Club House, and the following changes in golf fees to be effec-
tive as of Tray 1, 1956:'
6.00 per month, single person.
7.50 " " , man & wife.
50.00 t year, Single person.
60,00 " It: , man & wife.
The motion was carried.
Alderman Murray reported that Mr. J. C. Dowell was wanting to
purchase from the City an alley between Blocks 42 and 47 in College
View Addition. This matter was discussed but no action taken.
There being no other business at this time, the Council stood
adjourned subject to the MqUor's call.

The City Council met in called session on this date with
Mayor Evans presiding and the following aldermen present: Doyle
White, David Hugon, Chas. Riggins, J. P. Hedrick, Herman Ferguson
and Scott D. Reed.
Present also were Water Supt. Anderson, St. Supt. McMahan,
Chief Moore and City Atty. Chandler.
The Mayor announced that the purpose of the meeting was for
the installation of new City Officials and the appointment of the
Standing Committees.

Mayor Evans charged the following committees of the work to
be done and requested that they report back their findings and
recommendations to the Council at the next regular meeting:
Water Committee:l.The possibility of a summer water rate.
2. What amount of water to be allowed new buildings
while under construction.
Finance Committee: 1. Recommendation on wage increase for City
employees.
2. Recommendation for a new tax map for the
tax department.
Park Committee: 1. Recommendations on two new employees to re-
place those that will retire in June.
Mayor Evans suggested several other projects; that will be given
consideration later on:
1. Volunteer firements pay.
2. Re -submission of the City Charter propositioim.
3. Park Improvement.
4- Parking Meter problems.
Mr. W. $. Brown, President of the Stephenville and Erath
County Free Fall Fair Association, appeared before the Council
requesting the use of City Park and its flacilities for the Fall
Fair to be held Sept. 27-28-29. It was moved by Alderman Ferguson,
seconded by Alderman White, that the City furnish the Park and
its facilities to the Fair Association to be held on the above
dates. Motion carried unanimously.

Mayor Evans ask for nominations for a Mayor-Pro-Tem. Alder-
man Ferguson was nominated, after which it was moved by Alderman
White, seconded by Alderman Riggins, that nominations cease and
that Alderman Ferguson be elected Mayor-Pro-Tem by acclamation.
Motion carried.
There being no other business at this time, the Council
stood adjourned subject to the Mayor's cal
