Stephenville, Texas
December 6, 1955.
The City Council met in regular session on the above date
with Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present:
Doyle white, J. P. Hedrick, Herman Ferguson, John Hancock, Chas,
Riggins, J. W. Clements and Jas. D. Farr.
Others present wore J. P. Anderson, water Supt., R. B.
McMahan, St. Supt., W. L. Moore, Chief of Police, and Joseph A.
Chandler, City Atty.
Minutes of last meeting were read and approved.
Messrs. I. G. Willis and L. B. Chambers appeared before the
Council requesting the City sell them the alley alongside their
property, between Blocks 2 and 3 of the Crow -Styles Addition.
No action was taken on this matter until such time as Messrs.
Willis and Chambers can contact all property owners along both
sides of said alley.
It was moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman
Riggins, that the City approve the 1954-55 City Audit prepared
by Mr. Carl Crimmins, and to pay him $375#00 as per agreement.
Motion carried.
It was moved by Alderman Ferguson, seconded by Alderman
Hancock, that $2000#00 betransferred from the General Fund to
the R & B Fund. Motion carried.
Alderman Riggins discussed the hiring of two additional
firemen. It was moved by Alderman Riggins, seconded by Alder-
man Hedrick, that the City hire two firement at a salary of
$210.00 each, per month, to begin work on December 15, 19550
said firement to be selected by the Fire Committee along with
the Fire Chief. Motion carried.
It was moved by Alderman white, seconded by Alderman Farr,
that the City discharge Mr. J. E. Redden effective as of Decem-
ber 31, 1955. Motion carried.
The Council discussed the need of oiling East Tarleton St.
This matter was referred to the Street Committee to be worked
out by them.
It was moved by Alderman Clements, seconded by Alderman
White, that bills and accounts be allowed and ordered paid.
Motion carried.
There being no other�businsss at this time, the Council
stood adjourned subject to the Mayor's call.

The City Council met in a called session on the above date
with Mayor Clark presiding and the following aldermen present:
John Hancock, J. W, Clements, Doyle white, Chas. Riggins, Herman
Ferguson, Jas. D. Farr and J. P. Hedrick,
Mayor Clark reported the purpose of the meeting was to con-
sider passing a resolution to sell the State Highway Dept. part

of an acre of the City Golf Course.
Mr. Boyd, local State Highway Dept. Engineer, reported that
all papers were in order and all the was necessary now was the
Council to pass a resolution and to get the approval of the At-
torney General's Office on the abstract.
It was moved by Alderman White, seconded by Alderman Ferguson,
that the following Resolution be adopted:
RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of Stephenville be, and
he is hereby authorized to execute a warranty deed to the State of
Texas, reserving to the City of Stephenville, all of the bil, gas
and sulphur under same but waiving rights of ingress and egress; for
the purpose of exploring, developing, mining or drilling for same,
for and in consideration of the sum of $500,00 paid the City of
Stephenville and covering that certain land owned by the City of
Stephenville described as follows:
"Being a tract or parcel of land out of Block 86 in the
City of Stephenville as shown on King's Map of the City ofStep-
henville, lying north of the East Memorial Cemetery tract and
west of the tract presently owned by the Texas Highway Department,
and being more particularly described as follows: BeginUng at a
point in the North Line of the East Memorial Cemetery tract, said
point being the Southwest corner of the Texas Highway Department
tract and being S 69 deg. 39 min. W. a distance of 396.52 feet from
the Northwest corner of said Cemetery tract, said corner being also
the Southeast corner of the Texas Highway Department tract and lying
in the West right-of-way line of existing U. S. Highway No. 281, said
point being also the SEC of the 2.5 acre tract conveyed by the Step-
henville Cemetery Association to W. G. Fenner by deed dated April
1Z, 1939, and recorded in Volume 257, page 518 of the Deed Records
of Erath County;
Thence N. 31 deg. 04 min. W. with the West Line of the Texas High-
way Department tract, a distance of 243.01 feet to a point for a
corner, said point being the NWC of the Texas Highway Department:
tract and lying 486.70 feet S. 68 deg. 42 min. W. from the NEC; of
the Texas Highway Department tract;
Thence S 68 deg. 42 min. W a distance of 105.5 feet to a point for
a corner, said point lying in the Westerly extension of the North
Line of the Texas Highway Department tract;
Thence S 12 deg. 02 min. E a distance o€ 239.54 feet to a point
for a corner, said point lying in the North Line of the East Mem-
orital Cemetery Tract;
Thence N 69 deg. 39 min. E with the North line of the East Memor-
ial Cemetery tract and the Westerly extension of the South Line of
the Texas Highway Department tract, a distance of 185.3 feet to the
place of beginning and containing 0.794 acres of land, more or less,
all out of said Block 86 of the City of Stephenville;
And the City Secretary of the City of Stephenville, lax H. Cates, is.
authorized to attest said deed and impress the seal of the City of
Stephenville thereon."' Motion carried.
There being no other business, the Council stood adjourned
subject to the Mayor's call. ,>
